Yes mucuous is toxic.Some medicines provide a simple means of cleansing the nose and sinuses of stale and toxic mucus and restoring the normal defense of nasal cilia movement. When the cilia move, they move the toxic products out of the nose and sinuses.

i would say yes i have unique sinus condition "was shot in the nose" my sinus's drain constantly it causes sore throats & upset stomach i have noticed when getting a sore throat that by keeping nose clean & eating something to "cure" throat like lots of chinese mustard on spicy dish like kung pao beef ,or jalapino peppers, also tabasco will stop sore throat
