As long as the cat likes it, you're fine. My experience is that cats do not like water and they fight you during the bath.

Not a dumb question. Yes you can, but it is not as easy as washing a dog. One method we did, was put a screen in the tub for the cat to "grab on too" while one person held her still and the other bathed it. I imagine if you beging the ritual with a younger kitten it would get used to it. My current cat hates it, but is very good. He just sort of crouches in the tub and takes it, and he was older, but then again, he is one of the most tolerant cats I ever met. MY other one would probably have nothing to do with it. I don't need to so much any more because noone has allergies in the house. Cats typically keep themselves pretty clean and do not need baths like dogs do (unless someone has allergies)

You are "allowed" to "attempt" to wash cats. The real question is if the cat will "allow" you to wash them or not. The majority of cats are deathly afraid of water, and this fear takes over any love and trust they have in you; their person. Many years ago, with my family's first kitten, she was loaded with fleas and had to have a flea treatment, which in those days was contained within a shampoo, so she had to have a bath with actual water. I was "elected" for this adventure of course. This was logical, in a way; because she was my fur baby and my husband and kids really thought she would "behave" for me. Well, I can remember putting on one of those thick rubberized raincoats to keep myself dry and to protect me from scratches. All I can tell you is that we both survived, my bathroom looked like a pipe or multiple pipes had broken and I have scars on my hands to this day from my poor Mineou turning into a wet mass of claws and fur. That was my one and only wash the cat adventure. I generally pride myself on being an intelligent person, I should have learned before that adventure. Although Mineou lived to the ripe old age of 17, and has been in kitty heaven for years now, I think of that bath and chuckle every time I notice the scars on my hands. Thank goodness the flea treatment worked, as I was not attempting that again. Have a good day!

Yes, you can wash your cat. While most cats hate water, there are exceptions to the rule, I have a cat, that if I leave the bathroom door open, while I'm taking a bath, he'll jump into the bathtub with me. He dosent scratch or fight in any way, he's as content as can be!I'm able to wash him & rinse him off, then towel dry him ( it takes ALOT of towels to dry one little kitty, about five of them )He won't stand for a blow dryer, though, there he draws the line.

Yes you can give a cat a bath. My suggestion is, if you have bathed cat's in the past and not gotten shredded like cheese! Go right ahead.

Otherwise I suggest you leave the cat bathing to the pet groomers! They get paid to get shredded like cheese! And they make your pet smell extra yummy! Your pet will be attracting all the others on the block!

Blessings To You & Yours

Yes, you can wash them. Just not in the washing machine and don't dry them in the dryer, they'll shrink. ;-) I have a long haired cat and I even get mine shaved. It is cute cause he looks like a lion when he is shaved. Then they also bathe him after they shave him.

Yes, you are allowed. But by a cats standards...you might not be! LOL Most kitties protest greatly to the water ceremony. LOL Just be gentle with them, and pet them alot, talk with them in soothing tones, and see where it gets you. You might be blessed with a kitty like mine who will just try and sneak away and meow his way through it in protest. LOL

As long as you dry them afterward (hair dryer or clothes dryer).

Seriously, though, the only time I'd wash a cat is if they got into something oily or got REALLY dirty. Normally, they do most of their own washing. (And spend hours doing it.)

Just make sure you hold the cat under water a long time. Then it will be ok.
