I would walk five hundred miles,
and then I'd walk five hundred more
just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
to keep a job so I could walk some more!
NA NA NA NA! NA NA NA NA!
- with appology to the Proclaimers.

Typically, world wide I'm told, a reasonable commute TIME is between 30 minutes to an hour. It seems to me an eight mile commute on foot would take you three hours. This seems unreasonable.

I think I'd find a faster way to get there, or find a different job. Walking to and from work would take you almost as long as you are working, assuming you're working eight hours a day.

my commute is less than that and id rather drive. i think it is 3 miles. i would drive only because to get home i would have to walk/drive over a bridge where fishermen take over the pedestrian walk and there is too much traffic to walk in the street. why get hit by a car or a fish hook when i can zoom by. also 40min to walk or 10min car ride (w/no traffic)? lazy morning people would take the car

yes, I would, and yes I have walked even further. It's not always a matter of choice.
