3 years ago, my nan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, she had a mastectomy and the doctor said it was all clear. Then last year my nan was diagnosed with breast cancer again, she had another mastectomy but this time it wasnt as successful, the cancer spread to her bones and then a couple of weeks ago the doctor confirmed that it had spread to her liver and said she only had about 3 months to live.
Does anyone know how correct these diagnosis's are and is anyone in a similar situation? I'm extremely concerned that she may not be alive to spend Christmas with me and my family as she wants to.

I lost my mother to stage 4 lung cancer 6 years ago. She was 39 when she died. When they first diagnosed her they gave her 6 months to a year, then they said 3 to 6 months. She survived 1 year and 2 weeks after they diagnosed her. So as you can see no doctor can say when someone will die...that is up to God and the strength and willpower of the dieing. I got pregnant 2 months after my mother was diagnosed and she literally held out for the birth of her grandchild...she died 15 days after my son was born. All you can do is put it in Gods hands and accept what he gives. But just remember even those that are not physically still with us are still with us in our hearts and around us all the time. Good luck your in my prayers.

Cancer can recur or a new cancer can develop in the other breast so that initial diagnosis was correct. Doctors certainly have enough information to be able to give you an estimate of the time your nan has left to live but everyone is different. That is why the doctor said "about" or approximately three months. I have found the estimates to be pretty accurate, though. Just be there for your nan, ask her if there are any things that she feels are unfinished in her life and help her to complete them if possible. An early Christmas with the family while she is still feeling fairly healthy rather than waiting until she may still be here but in such pain she can't participate, might be the best gift of all to all.

Any diagnosis' correctness depends on many variables. The most important of these is the patient's willingness to fight with all their resources to live.
Make sure mind body and spirit are involved in the healing process. Follow the doctor's orders exactly.
Learn relaxation, meditation, visualization tecniquics and use them several times a day.
Ask everyone you meet to join you in prayer for your resoration to health. Find a prayer group that meets often and join in prayer for others.
These things can bring a better quality of life to time left, and could possiblly add days to your time. Help your nan to do these

Sorry to hear about your Nan. When cancer spreads to the liver, it is rarely hopeful, barring a miracle. God occasionally does heal people. I lived next door to a elderly man who had been sent home to die of inoperable throat cancer at 59 years old. He died at 94. He told me how He felt God rubbing his throat, and he coughed up a bloody cancer ( He described it as looking like a night crawler)
This man had been a unbeliever until he was lying on his back dying. He made this simple prayer, ( Lord, I don't even know if you exist, but if you do, I know I am a sinner) I considered to myself why God had healed him, and the other people God had healed. What about all the ones he did not heal? People pray for someone, and they die. I have had a lot of relatives die of cancer. They were prayed for, but it was just their time to go.
I have a opinion on why God extended this mans life. It is just my opinion. His mother had prayed for him constantly, until she died when he was 18. When he was healed, he spent his remaining years on earth a witnessing Christian. I believe God extended his life for that reason.
I of course know nothing about your Nan, Or your views. I just thought I would share that with you.
I recommend you pray for her. Whatever comes, accept it. There is a reason for it.

I am so sorry about your nan. Unfortunately cancer is a very ugly disease. It can lay in your body and not always be detected. Right now all you can do is be with your nan and not desert her now when she needs you most. It will be a very trying time. I lost my neice to cancer. My prayers will be with you.

Please see the webpages for more details on Breast cancer. In Breast cancer, the metastasis (cancer spreading) to neighbouring organs, such as bones, lungs and liver is very high.

I'm sorry. They can only give you an estimate. Some people live longer, others die sooner.

Consider celebrating Christmas early this year.
