You can definitely claim your wife. If you have supported the daughter, even if she gets child support, you should be able to claim her unless the dad has the "right" to claim her, in the divorce decree.

You can't claim a spouse as a dependent, but if you file jointly, you get an exemption for her and for yourself on the return.

Whether you can claim her daughter depends on the normal rules for claiming a dependent, and has nothing to do with your wife's disability status.

You question is vague but the answer to your question is probably yes. Go to the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/ where you can look at, download (pdf file), and print (assuming you have a printer) the 1040 Instruction booklet. Inside you will find the test that you need to meet in order to be able to claim your wife and her daughter as dependants. Regardless of whether your wife get approved for disability - you may (and should) be able to claim them both on your taxes assuming you are filing a joint return.

Depends on how old the daughter is and if there are any stakes in the divorce decree on the dependancy of child. You may be able to claim your wife though.

Generally yes. File a joint return. You can claim her daughter if you jointly provided more than 1/2 of her support or she has legal custody. There are other rules, but you shouldn't have any problems with them.

If you file a joint return, the answer is yes. If you don't file a joint return, you probably should. for more information an rules for dependents see:
