How do you tell if you no longer have a soul?

Question

I committed suiside 3 years ago, and survived. I was dead for a few seconds, I think around 10 if I recall correctly. But one of the things I began to notice when I woke up from that incident, was the surealness, and the emptyness. I know what depression is, and what it feels like, but this is much more. I am wondering if there is any religion/spiritial information that actually describes what happens to a failed suiside like myself. Whether or not our souls are still with us, or if it has left, leaving us to wander around. No, this is not a goth or emo post, I am not a cutter. Just a series of unfortunate events leading to a poor choice. I am looking for any ideas as to what I am feeling, or where to go for direction. On the god issue, again, long story, but in a nutshell I pissed him off. Details too long for char limit. Any Ideas will be helpfull. Thankyou.

Welcome to the ranks of the living dead, friend.
Partial death will certainly leave you in a funny place. A living connection with the other side tends to leave you open to sensory input from beyond your normal sphere of understanding. Your perception has been burst open and now you live with this "surreality"... While the better part of you returned to the world of the living, a portion remained tethered to the other side.
You worry now that perhaps you found hell on earth. To a degree, you are correct, but bear this in mind: If your hell exists here, so does your heaven.
The emptiness you feel is basically disassociation. Explore your new existence. You are sure to discover that the hole in your mind leads to frightening new places, but do not fear the voyage down this strange path. It is merely your human minds' enterpretation of the infinite, the immortal.
Beware, however, of the things your soul is now connected to. Launder your Karma. Purify your intentions. You will be OK. You are just a little different now.

There are only two unforgivable sins and one of those is still controversial. The first is to commit suicide, successfully. (How can you ask forgiveness after you're dead) The other is a spiritual matter I refuse to tell people until they have a relationship with God. So what ever this feeling is, I do know what it isn't. You cannot loose your soul and remain living. As long as you are alive, you have the option to give yourself to God. Even if you've sold your soul to the devil, you can be redeemed by God.

A guess about the emptiness would be, having faced your own mortality and come out the other side a survivor. If this is the case you can get some counseling to gain emotional tools for living a healthy, productive life when everything seems so unimportant relative to death. I'm sure you've been through some counseling regarding your suicide attempt, if not you need to get some, but the survivor issue is an entirely different set of issues.

No you have one. unless you were born with out one. there are a few out there who have been born this way. The emptiness you are feeling is probably form being tossed back by death. to know that death does not want you right now. It feels like your stuck between the world of the living. And the world of the dead. Some how the experience always changes the way you see life. Almost like the blinders have been removed. and you can see all the realness for the first time.
Ahh but you want to be in the arms of death. It kinda feels like falling into the arms of a loved one, or like being near mom when you a kid.
As for God pissed at you. this may be a way God is telling you that there may be other Gods out there for you. And it is time for you to start your journey to find them. You have lived and made poor choices. You died for the choices you made. Now you live once Aegean. Go make the right choices in your life.

traumatic events, whether self-inflicted or not, can cause you to "lose" soul pieces. I know just the feeling you are describing. It's terrifying and lonely on an entirely different plane.
you haven't really lost your soul, you've just become unattached. in order to reattach and feel closer to the person you were before your suicide attempt, you will have to do alot of work and "soul searching" (guess that's one reason for that term, huh?). I suggest getting the help of a shaman. They can help you to reconnect and heal. They have techniques that aren't easily accomplished alone.
You may need psychological therapy, but do not forget the spiritual therapy the shaman can help you with.

Experience tells me that you are confusing fact with fiction. The Fact is that you never truly died just Like I never truly died years ago. Fiction is that if your heart stops or your brain skips a pulse then you are dead. Not even the doctors believe that one anymore. As for your soul, it is here and it is being judged foolish for not believing in itself. Then again the whole suicide thing helps to explain that. You are a gift to yourself and to those around you and if you don't cherish that gift why should others? Let God judge whether or not you have a soul and in the mean while assume you do and give thanks for the opportunity to demonstrate this to others. Oh yea, geting back to the peace you felt after you attempted suicide, those are called drugs. They give them to you to keep you sedated long enough to decide if you are still a threat to yourself. Never confuse the fog for a cloud or stillness for peace, things are not always what the seem to be.

As long as you are breathing you have your soul. Because of the action you took against yourself and life, you may have opened yourself up to some dark influences. The only remedy I know of for that is Christ Jesus, all powers are under His Rule. God is not pissed at you. He's probably reaching out to you right now, or you wouldn't be asking this question. Try to make the connection with Jesus, be filled with His Spirit, and you will have the ability and power to be freed from what is oppressing you.

I want to hug you so bad. It is clear that you are hurting. Please believe that God loves you. The very fact that you ask this question is proof that your soul is intact, not that its possible to ever lose it. Stay away from any church that tells you what to believe or you will go to hell. You did not piss God off, don't believe that. Please go get the books "Life on the Other Side"or "Adventures of a Psychic", both by Sylvia Browne. I cannot say that I believe that she is 100% correct on all things but most of it seems extremely logical and true. Most of all, my dear heart, please stop feeling guilty for whatever you think you did that was so bad. You did not die because your soul was not ready to die. Look outside and see this morning as a new beginning. Listen with your heart as well as with your mind. Your heart will tell you if something feels right, and your mind will tell you if it makes sense. Please search out different religions and philosophies, we all worship the same God.

And when it comes to the spiritual part of natural/spiritual, well then it's compare spiritual(law) with spiritual(grace), and as if comparing a new and dead way with a new and living way, of such globe-all good 'news' in the NT of Old/New Testaments.

In other words the Bible is both "allegory" and "mystery", so it's allegoric mystery to solve by seek & find, seek and ye shall find: but "seek first" the kingdom of God and his righteousness, also "find grace", to help, in time. For of no escape and escape, escape is notably via "give more earnest heed" to what's said, especially to what's God said, such as "let there be light" (not lights, nor both light and darkness), and there was "light"(only).

You still have a soul. It never left or you wouldn't be here. The reason that people wait atleast three days to bury a body is because it was believed that it takes three days for the soul to leave the body. You're still here because you're not finished yet. Find your purpose and you will fill your emptyness.
