ok i've already asked "What should one do is one loses one's faith?" I am asking this again because no one can give a decent answer ok this question cannot be answered with "you." If you feel like putting "you" in your answer replace it with one. by putting "you" the person answering is assuming that this question is about the asker. it could be about the asker's friend. and another thing no comments like "welcome to the real world" or "now that the brainwashing's done" the asker in this case has never been brainwashed and never will be. so if you don't read this little detail thing you just shouldn't answer. I no one has notice i am looking so a decent no sarcasm no bullshit answer!

If someone loses their faith they should simply find out what they actually do believe. Clearly its not the same thing as what they once believed, so i think the question is now what do 'they' actually believe now.

What did one lose faith in?

It is easier to lose faith with an good education. Once a person is capable of independent thought, he is also capable of seeing paradoxes that were once hidden. This has happened with each generation. When searching for ones faith, a person has to come to grips with what he truly believes. If it can be proved by science, then it is science. Faith based beliefs do not require conformation by science. When experience does not match the belief, then faith can be strained. One must asked why faith was lost? Was it a singular event? Is questioning our faith the same as losing it? If one is of independent thought, he constantly questions his faith and the world around him. He is reassured with what does not change. He is reassured by what does change, because now he can modify his concepts to incorporate the new experiences and have a more realistic view of what is going on. Blind faith requires no proof. Some people believes it simplifies things to have blind faith, not to question any further. Some people believe they should not be blinded by faith but to seek answers that will serve them better. It is a quest everyone goes through from the time they are born to the time they are buried. We all have a finite period of time here. Some find that the destination is not as important as the journey. Keep the faith.

If someone loses their faith, there are probably many reasons. One possible solution is to pray for guidance and maybe ask a pastor or priest to help explain or discuss some things. Not so much religious things, but also personal problems or events that have happened in this person's life to cause the loss of faith. The discussion with the priest would be fully confidential and could be helpful by getting everything out in the open so that the person concerned can see more clearly where they should go from here.

Go on a search for Christ.
When my faith was shaken, I volunteered to teach at a mission school in the S. Pacific. There, I saw God working in such an undeniable way, in my life and in the lives of others, with several minor miracles.
My favourite picture of Christ is one of the "God of the Trenches." If you want to meet Christ, you need to go to the front lines of service mentioned in Matthew 25:34-40.
You also should pray. See Mark 9:24.
My favourite author says that the greatest proof of Christ is an alcoholic gone sober, an adulteress turned pure, a robber turned soup kitchen volunteer, etc.
Finally, if it is contradictions in the Bible, hypocrisy in the church, or otherwise along that lines that is bothering you, then prayerfully search out a new church. After all, it would be difficult to believe that every Christian denomination is flawless. Go to several churches and test them on the things that matter (like doctrine, among other things). Perhaps your search will bring you back to your old church, or maybe you will find truth elsewhere. But with prayer, and faith in Philippians 1:6, you will discover God's plan for you. Just don't expect it to happen in a day or two, because God is the master of patience.

I think if someone loses faith, it is because he/she has started to question aspects of life that aren't given adequate answers by religion. Some people are born-into a religion or way of thinking and it isn't until much later that they decide it isn't for them. I was born into a Christian family and went to church regularly throughout childhood simply because my parents took me. When I got a little older and started having my own ideas and opinions, I decided I didn't want to be tied to any faith at all. I don't think 'losing faith' is necessarily a bad thing that needs to be fixed (or even can be). More than likely this person is going through something personally and needs time to re-evaluate certain beliefs and opinions. It may turn out to be much more of a growth than a loss.

It is hard to keep faith when you have all the surroundings evils of the world. You must understand that the devil never sleeps. He is up 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, 32 days a month and 366 days a year. The Apostle Paul says in
1 TIMOTHY 6:12
12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Many witnesses are those who are keeping a close eye on you waiting for the first mistake to throw in your face. You see you professed a good fight, because the devil wants no man to have faith in God. Again Paul speaks in
1 THESSALONIANS 5:8
8) But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

We of the day represents us who wallow not in darkness(sin). The breastplate of faith is a bulletproof vest(God), and the helmet is the mind to want to have salvation. I pray that this helps you or your friend or both. Feel free to e-mail me at bible_god_holy@yahoo.com or instant message me if you have.
I pray for you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

If someone has lost their faith or doubts the direction of their spiritual unfoldment then maybe it's time for that person to understand what has brought about the change in conviction or the disillusionment with spiritual growth. It isn't an easy process, it takes time and it takes an interest and dedication to finding out about oneself and ones connections to others and to the sense of Divine or God or Source.

It's a process of self-understanding and can be seen by others as flighty and insincere. I would suggest to them that they read not just about one religion but about a lot of them, then read some of the varied spiritual books that offer alternatives to conventional religious teaching. Visit the varied the web sites and see about other community groups that explore spirituality. Faith comes from a secure knowledge base combined with a strong sense of self and spirit. Making choices based on a logical process of analyzing spiritual writings and teachings helps to build a faith that can stand the test of time because it allows someone to add and release points of faith based on where the spirit knows it should be. It doesn't mean that those points don't have merit it simply means that the person may not be ready to hear those points or that they have grown beyond the restrictions imposed by that point of knowledge.

I would also suggest that someone in that situation stop beating themselves up. They could start to doubt what they know but one of the hardest journeys is one of self discovery. Self discovery is not just a personal experience it's a spiritual experience with profound and limitless possibilities if one is willing to look.

Blessings to one and all on their search. Email if you would like other resource books to read.

In order to restore your faith, you need to see how others have come back to God. Seeing a modern day miracle and not something that happened 2000 yrs. ago will greatly improve your faith. I was an Atheist and had a miracle happen to me. So, I started to watch the 700 Club on TV. This was a program I use to hate. I began to see miracles happen to people that was unbelievable. Call them and ask for the DVD "12 Miracles, Touched By The Hand of God". It's Free. These are modern day miracles that could only have been performed by God himself. Your faith will be restored. Believe me.

Faith is personal to each person. Has faith been lost in humanity? Then, volunteer to work with the sick or the homeless. Has faith been lost in oneself? Then find something about oneself that you can be proud of and nurture it. Has faith been lost in religion? Maybe a study of other religions will show a new path to a higher power.

Faith is something that should never be taken for granted and must be nurtured every day. Reflect on that and I am sure the answer will show itself. Good luck.

When I lost my faith, it was for horrible reasons I didn't understand yet. I spent a good portion of my life with no light. I learned much and left what I couldn't deal with up to Goddess, and when I accepted faith back into my life, I realized that I turned my face first, and more importantly, that Divinity was all around me the whole time. So for those who have lost their faith, one should look for the truth behind the sorrow, or the anger. Once lit, the flame of truth never goes out.
Blessed Be.
