Yes, when I am driving, but I do not know why.
A police car behind me and I really get panicky! Do my break lights work etc!
Maybe it is just a case of being overly correct - which is not a bad thing, is it?
By the way, I see a police officer on a regular basis and he is a good friend of ours - still doesn't change things, though!
Maybe we all have a skeleton in the cupboard that we are not even aware of.

Not at all. I pay a lot of taxes, and police are just one aspect of the public life that I employ. If you ever take the time to get to know some of your law-enforcement officers, you find most of them are really good people trying to do a very difficult and stressful job, and for a relatively low salary.

Yes & I am one!!! If there is a police car behind me whilst I am driving, despite having full insurance, mot, etc. etc. I still feel guilty - about what I haven't got a clue!
I try to avoid looking in the mirror at work too - then I don't feel too guilty!

It isn't that minority members are made to feel guilty; it's a matter of a lifetime of being stopped and harassed for no reason other than that they have the guns and can harass and arrest us on trumped up charges, as has happened on many, many, many occasions. It is not guilt; it is apprehension!
If you were a minority member, you wouldn't ask this question. You don't think so? Open your eyes.
Minority members are first ones stopped for any minor infraction that Whites are not. I have been stopped while my (White) attorney friend is standing by watching and doing the same thing I was... taking a photo across the river, at a public pier.
On another occasion, my neighbor was waiting for me in front of the building when a police officer cursed at him to move along and threatened to hit him because my neighbor told him that he was waiting for me... I was told to shut up or get my butt hurt but my attorney friend just arrived (we were going to a computer show together)./. the minute I said, "Oh, there's my attorney; perhaps you can tell HIM what infraction I'm committing by waiting here off to the side?" the police officer quickly left.
The attorney I used to work with once had his van stolen and it was recovered and returned. A few months later, he was stopped and he explained to them that it was stolen and recovered and returned to him. They went about their business. A client came into our office all bruised up after spending three/four days in jail for supposedly being in a stolen car; the client and the gentleman with him, both Black, were brutally manhandled, thrown to the street pavement and handcuffed for being in a car that was supposedly stolen. The client tried to tell them that he had just bought the car and he still had the papers with him, the DMV registration, insurance papers, license plates, etc., but they did not want to listen. He even gave them the name and telephone number of the used car lot but they would not listen. It turns out that it was once stolen and it was recovered but the police failed to enter this into their computer records. Both gentlemen lost their jobs, as a result of missing days of work. Same situation, different outcomes... wonder why?
I am often harassed but the minute I open my mouth and make demands of knowing what law or ordinance I am breaking and I am left alone... I am often mistaken for Native American; I have shoulder-length hair worn in a ponytail, now graying. I do not look in anyway, shape of form like a youngster.
Why am I singled out even when I'm standing next to my (White) attorney buddy by police officers? YOU tell me!
I have personally trained about 7 kids that are now police officers and they tell me how their fellow police officers abuse citizens. My son-in-law is a police officers and my brother-in-law is a Assistant Warden. In fact, my best friend's older brother retired from corrections a couple of years ago. You REALLY think I don't hear of the abuse that goes on? Ever hear of the Blue Wall of Silence?
The police personnel are there to protect us but who protects US against them?

I think it is like being called to the office at school even if you know you haven't done anything. For me it is more of a fear that something has happened to my family if I see a police officer coming to my home.

Security guards can sometimes make you feel a little uneasy. The worst are the ones that follow you all over the store - and even virtually breathe down your neck!
They want to start spying on the REAL shoplifters rather than follow innocent people around!

Yep. Because we're all guilty of *something* even if it's just going 6 miles (or so) over the speed limit.
Funny thing is that is what I've wanted to do forever.

I don't feel guilty, but I automatically check my speedometer. :-)
Unless we're all stopped at a traffic light... then no feeling one way or the other at all.
Now, in the past, when drinking an I.B.C. root beer, THAT would make me feel guilty. It's just root beer, but it is packaged in a dark brown bottle with a long neck and looks just like a beer bottle. Do you know which ones I mean? So, I just don't drink I.B.C. root beer and drive. I drink Mug root beer, instead. ;-)

No! I was confused as to why they woke me up from my nap after only having slept 15 minutes.
Though, It was under the trainstation 4.30 during the morning (You see, the pub closed, and I decided to wait an hour for the next train).'
Though the female officer was kind of cute. I bet that's why I couldn't get a coherent word from my mouth! Har har! ;)
