Hi there
i like your question....
I will be honest with you as a male whose 40 i have always preferred to give women nick names.
1st rule its important that the name you pick doesn't hurt the others feelings or embarrass them.
2nd It should reflect the personality of that person. or something you know about that individual on a personal or private level
3rd Don't confuse nick names with endearments. Honey ,Sweety ,Sugar, Snookims are endearments.
Example:
I had a girlfriend who I called Freckles when we where alone or around family.Thing is she didn't have any visible freckles the only 2 she had where In a private area. When i 1st called her by that naturally there was some explaining to do and i followed my rules of Nick names keeping it private.
4th A nickname isn't to be given out easily and to those who receive them are usually closer to their partner or friend
Other names i have called female friends and lovers are:
Tinkerbell Commander Princess
Legs Sandals Bed Hog
Sunshine Cuddle Bug Fuzz Butt
Jug Butt Lady Bug Hot lips
Pooter Love Bug Booger
Hot Rod Kitten Busy Bee

I'm not a guy, but I think pretty much all guys have nicknames for women. Like the ones they can't get with so easily they give them nicknames like hard to getters or something with a few less words. Pretty much if their game doesn't work on the chick, she'll get a nickname. I haven't really heard of any guy calling one of his "girl" friends a nickname, but use more physical touch like a pat on the shoulder or something. But watch out for both body language and verbal language cuz some guys do switch it up on you sometimes.

Could be a hint. Either way, he likes you. Friend or more I don't know but some of the best relationships start off as friends.

if a guy has given u a nick name and he calls u that all the time it usually means he likes u for more than just a friend.

I call everyone "hon" or "dear" It doesn't really mean something. But it also depends on how they react around you as well
