God very seldom speaks, and most of the people who claim to have heard from him were hallucinating.
God tends to communicate by SNAPSHOTS, by giving you images, almost like still pictures. These are "visions." Don't ask for many of these, because they are also commands for what you ought to be doing with your life.
The fundamental requirement for a vision seems to be gratitude for being alive. Alert observation of nature at sunrise and sunset are particularly appropriate. Another requirement is patience -- if you genuinely want a vision, that desire will be expressed with no impatience whatsoever.

Hi all. I am from Iran. When I was only six, I asked my mother who is God? And she told me you would understand when you grow up. The same night I asked God to reveal himself to me! And I saw a strange dream: I was walking towards an open window. Outside was a wonderful view. I saw a white bright light (much more brilliant than the sun) it was in the center and was shining. And it was surrounded by a beautiful red light (a beautiful color between red and pink) and small white lights (similar to clouds) were circling around the central white light. Suddenly I heard a soft male voice (a kind voice) that told me: I am God. All humans must obey me.
And I guess I woke up at once. I told my dream to my mother and she told me: see how kind is God? He made your wish because you are an innocent, pure child (all children are pure). Even prophets (no one in fact) could not dream of God. So it is very strange for me. But I have heard that once God took prophet Mohammad’s soul to the same place that I dreamed of. That is where we call “Arsh Ala” which is close in meaning to “supreme place”. I know that saying what God is like is a mortal sin but I only told you my dream. And I know that it is impossible to see God. What do you think? Do you think my dream was true? Regarding that as a six-year-old child I had no imaginations of God. I mean if it was not true then why did not I dream a human or something other than a wonderful view?

- Girlfriend didnt' fill the void.
- Friends didn't fill the void.
- Computer games didn't fill the void.
- Work doesn't fill the void.
- Hobbies didn't fill the void.
- Christianity hasn't filled the void, although that could be entirely my fault which it probably is of course.
DID YOU TRY FILLING THE VOID FOR SOMEONE?

You are asking for something that has happened only a very few times in all of creation's existence. The relationship with God is first based on faith. This means making decisions based on promises. Everyday, I live in the faith that the military will keep our country free. I have evidence that they are working all the time toward this end. So I am not controlled by the fear that I will be living under Sharia law anytime soon.
I have faith in God for similar reasons. Because of that faith, I am able to accept the promises of God and He has said that He sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide me. In this relationship I have heard God speak to me, albeit not audibly. I have been given visions but not as seeing something that isn't there. I see them in my mind's eye like I hear Him in my mind's ear. Why isn't this type of communication with God good enough? Isn't it enough to know that the Maker of the universe wants to spend some time with you? What do you care if He speaks audibly or in your heart? Here is where you will find the answer to your question.

When we pray, we pray according to His Will, and for His Will to be done. So we dont CHOOSE how we want God to speak to us.
He chooses the best way. This can come in the form of visions, or by reading His Word (suddenly a verse strikes your heart..u know God is speaking to you) or God can use people like pastors, friends, even unbelievers.
if you are close to God, you will know that that incident is Him speaking to you.
Don't tell yourself that you want to hear His "voice" as a literal "voice". It could happen, as it has happened in the old testament.
But before you ask for such things, you must first reflect on yourself. Are you walking in obedience to Him?
Sin hinders our relationship with God, but confessing our sins and reading His Word builds up our intimacy and faith in Him
Dont let the devil deceive you to think that God is only speaking to you when you hear a "voice".
Be sensitive to all the other ways He might be reaching out to you.
God Bless.

You can hear God with your own ears, but only after you purify your ears. You cannot hear Him with present material ears. As long as our ears are not completely pure, we must hear from another purified person, God's representative, a bonafide spiritual master, who can hear God. As soon as you learn for sure what is God's will for you and you do it, you will indeed fill your void and become incredibly happy.
Yes, only God, a loving relationship with Him can fill your void.
I cannot personally hear God's voice, because I have not yet completely purified my heart, but my spiritual master is seeing God and hearing God. You can sign up for his e-course at www.backtohome.com and ask him all kinds of questions about what is God's will for you and how you can come to the point of hearing Him.

I think you should study The Bible and learn more about God. I am busy reading through the whole Bible and I have found things I have never heard of. I am glad I began doing this. Maybe you should too

i hear Him. most of the time. like he is speaking right next to me. one time i was in church with this confusion in my heart over something and i was just asking Him to tell me what to do. then as i was about to leave, i heard Him shout to me from the altar, i stopped on my tracks and knelt again. that was the loudest i heard Him.
other times is through His word in the bible. ask Him to show you what He wants to tell you through the daily bible readings. ie the gospel for the day. for sure something is there for you.
all you have to do is be silent after you pray. allow Him to talk to you too not just you handling all the talking. how can you hear if you don't know how to listen. God speaks to your heart. in the silence of Your heart.

IF YOUR A CHRISTIAN YOU ALREADY KNOW GOD EXISTS, YOU DON'T NEED TO HEAR HIM WITH YOUR EARS.
I HAD A FRIEND WHO TRIED TO KILL HERSELF BY THROWING HERSELF INTO TRAFFIC, GOD PUSHED THE DOOR BACK ON HER AND TOLD HER "NO ITS NOT YOUR TIME," SHE REALLY HEARD GOD. SHE TRIED TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. GOD WOULDN'T LET HER KILL HERSELF. AND SHE'S GLAD CAUSE NOW SHE HAS A WONDERFUL HUSBAND AND A WONDERFUL LIFE. GOD HAD PLANS FOR HER LIFE AND SHE JUST DIDN'T REALIZE IT. SHE HAS BEEN A CHRISTIAN ALL HER LIFE AND GOD PULLED HER OUT OF HER DARK TIMES INTO HIS LOVE AND LIGHT.
WE ARE ALL BORN WITH A VOID IN OUR HEARTS AND NO ONE OR ANYTHING CAN FILL IT AND GIVE US TRUE PEACE BUT JESUS CHRIST.
