Sweet And Sour Sauce
I love the pinkish red sweet and sour sauce that is served in Chinese restraunts...I have tried dozens of recipes and been disappointed so I made this one by trial and error...this is the closest I have come to getting that flavor.
6 servings 2 cups 15 min 5 min prep
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon msg
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
Part 2
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Part 3
3 tablespoons ketchup
1/2 teaspoon ginger paste or fresh, minced ginger
1 tablespoon olive oil
Over medium heat bring Part 1 ingredients to a boil.
Mix Part 2 ingredients and add to boiling mixture.
Cook until bubbly and thick.
Remove from stove and add Part 3 ingredients.
This will keep in the refrigerator for weeks.
Room temperature ketchup mixes easier than refrigerated.
Serve warm.

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup corn starch
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 cup rice vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups oil
a little ginger, scallion and salt
Cut meat into the size of small mushrooms. Cut ginger and scallion into very find strips. Marinate the meat with soy sauce, salt, ginger and scallion for 15 to 20 minutes. Mix the flour and corn starch with one cup of water, then mix together with the pork. Let every piece of pork is coated by the batter. Put the wok on high heat, pour oil in and heat until it's half warm. Put the pork chops in one by one; fry until a crust forms. Switch to medium heat, cover the wok and fry until the crust is golden brown. Take the meat out and drain the oil. Leave about two tablespoons of oil in the wok. Put the vinegar and sugar in the wok; stir slowly until the sugar melt. Switch to high heat, put the meat in and stir quickly so that all the pork chops are covered by the sweet and sour sauce.

Easy peasy. Use honey (for the sweet) and vinegar (for the sour) put this in a can of tomatos and add some soy sauce and a wee hint of chilli. Quantities are dependent on your own taste.

i use this recipe:
1/3 c vinegar
4 tbsp sugar
1tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp. cornstarch or flour with 4 tbsp water
Mix the 1st 4 ingredients and heat it in a pan. Add whatever meat you like (fried pork or chicken cubes, which was lightly coated in flour) let simmer for 3-5 mins then add the cornstarch or flour mixture to thicken sauce.
You don't even need pineapple juice.
Tip:
You can add carrots, bell peppers and pineaple chunks if you want.

Quick easy way, in bowl put ketchup, pineapple juice, dash of chilli powder and season. Microwave about 30 secs. There you have it, without any fuss.
