Go and meet whoever u r girlfriend is engaged with and talk to him and tell all what has happened between u and your girlfriend, then let him talk to your girlfriend, then u and the person who is engaged to, go to the girls parents and talk to them, i think like this this issue can be resolved like this.
Or let your parents do the talking with your girlfriends parents.
If anything fails then you will think you both can run away, but it will unsuccessfull in your case bcs the girl dont want to go against parents will and dont want to see them ashamed or heads down.
I still dunno why ppl ask castes and why do we have so many caste problems here in INDIA, do jan pyar karte hain to shaadi karne do naa yaar, kya problem hain inko :))
If u need any help or wanna share anything with me just email me or call me, everything will be alright, dont worry too much, but keep thinking of new ideas and plans and ask your friends also abt it and dont jump into anything unless and until u think abt it 100 times.

Let her marry the guy she is going to. In time you too will find a suitable match.
