Well, you should consider several different factors while making your decision. Where do you live? Are there people in any signiicant numbers who live / go to school / work closeely with you who speak prediminately either of those languages? If so, maybe you would like to be able to comunicate better with them, and if their language is Spanish or French, well, that may help you with your decision.

Another thing, although I am only fluent in English, I do know that Spanish is supposed to be one of the easiest languages in the world to speak. That is because all of thieir words only have one meaning each. Where as in English, and I believe that may be the case with french also, we take one word, and it can mean anywhere from 2 - 10 or more things.

Take the word: "rock'. Is it a rock concert? Is it a chunk of earth, such as a rock found on a mountain? Do you rock your baby to sleep? When something is to your liking, do you say that it rock's? What about salt - do you ever use rock salt for anything? How about the drug users - do you like rocks in your cocaine? Just a few of the very different meanings that one single word is used for in English. Whereas in Spannish, one word means one thing. So, it's the easiest.

Also, depending on where you live, (So. CA for example), there are many jobs that require that their employees be bi-lingual and that more often than not implies being fluent in spanish.

Actually, it is really a decision that only you can make. I personally took German in the 8th grade to satisfy that same requirement, did great, got all "A's", and now, 20+ some years later, I only vaguely remember the simplest most basic words. I can call someone a shithead, and I know the word for Christmas tree. So, in the overall course of your life, who really cares. Ya know?

Take Spanish. It's an easy grade for you to pass. At the rate of North America is going, Spanish already being the #2 Language....it won't be long until it is more widely spoken. At 40 I'm still using my 10th grade Spanish from time to time.

You should take Spanish because there are more Spanish people every minute. You might have to talk to them one day. Unless you live somewhere where there are a lot of French, you should take Spanish.

If I were you I would take Spanish because Spanish is spoken in more parts of the world and is considered to be one of the most spoken languages in the world.

English might be the best. You can easily get English translaters for you when you travel to any countries in the world. On the airplanes, at the airports of any countries, English are being used.
Almost all sciences, philosophies, religions, technologies, trades, informations...have been written or translated into English. And perhaps, English is the most popular language on the Internet...Are these sufficient for you to make decision now?

hhhmmm I think, after English, Spanish is the most widely used language. Could be wrong here. I'd go for Spanish if I was you. At least it uses the same alphabet as English.

I say take spanish, its a little hard because most words are either masculine or feminine, but I think its more common than french. It can get you big bucks too if you really persue it.

Spanish if you want to travel to Latin America.
French if you like the accent.
Personally, I've chosen French.

My vote is for French. It is widely spoken language, after English. It can be quite helpful, if you plan a diplomatic career.
