i split up with my bf a week ago.. he wants to be mates but i still love him so much.. i'm coming around to the idea of us being mates...i have 2 see him all the time as we go to the same college. i just don't know how i'm going to cope with it after a 11 month relationship and now were just mates.

I would continue being friends, but maybe no the kind of friends that hangout a lot or call or talk to eachother a lot because im still recovering from a break up. I would starting looking for another boyfriend and then go hang around with ur ex more. i would feel more confident and comfortable.

You need to take a break from him completely for a short time. When you feel that you have recovered from the break-up then you can be friends. Right now you don't need your friend talking to you about his new gf or seeing him flirting with others. Just tell him you need a little space and will let him know when you are ready to be friends.

Everything is fine and dandy for him, but you need to walk away and see how you feel after some time has past. You can find yourself being quite miserable once you not only see him with other females, but when he tries to come to you as a friend to talk about them. You've already been hurt; don't allow yourself to be hurt again.

Get involved in something you enjoy doing that will allow you to have fun and meet new people... distraction will be you best friend until your heart heals.
