You didn't say how old kitty is, but if she's a kitten or a young adolescent she won't be interested in catnip. Cats only get turned on by nip when they're sexually mature. (And no, in case you're wondering, neutering won't make them less interested in it.)
If kitty is an adult, maybe she's one of the sizable minority of cats that just aren't interested in nip. Some aren't and nobody knows why. (For that matter, nobody knows why the others like it!)
Edit: just saw in your earlier post that kitty is still a young 'un. She's too young to be attracted to catnip. See if she likes it in another six months to a year. She might love it then.
Also, while she's still so young, please get kitty spayed! Spaying before the first heat reduces the risk of mammary cancer to zero, and mammary cancer is the leading cancer killer of female cats with developed mammaries!

Each cat is unique, just as each persons is unique. Caviar is a delicacy that if we could all afford we'd be delighted to eat it, right? Wrong. To me, and I had it at a very expensive restaurant, it tasted like a dose of cod liver oil, yuck!
So your cat doesn't like cat nip, so what. No big deal. I've had 4 cats over time and some liked it, others didn't. Return to PetSmart and take kitty with you. Try out toys. Really, she probably will just like the pull cords on your miniblinds or a peice of yarn dangling from a door knob!
At PetSmart buy a book or magazine that will help you learn how to care for your cat if you need to know how to do more than clean the litter box, and put food and water in bowls. Basically, that's all most cats want.

Cats are very individualistic creatures so what ever it says in any book about "Cats like" or "cats do" assume that some cat somewhere is just not with the program. My own cat, dislikes fish. Even tuna. Won't eat a bite. Hows that for weird?
About 30% of cats don't see the point in cat nip although you might try it again on her when she gets alittle older.
The best authority on your cat, is your cat. Watch her and she will tell you what she needs.
You should really get her spayed though.

Hmm... from what i've learned about cat nip is that... its a form a treat made for cats to soothe and relax them when they're stressed. If she doesn't like it... its probably because she either doesn't need it or she's not stressing. Like humans, we take exfoliating baths to soothe us. Esp using lavendar soaps relaxes the mind and body. Catnip acts the same way for cats. My cat likes the catnip. She also likes the little bells in the ball, yarn, ribbons. But if you have any questions call your local Petsmart or Petco. They're very educated and you can trust them with feedback because they are very passinate about animals. Good luck!
p.s. do you have long hair? in case you wonder why your cat paws your hair, if you have medium length or longer hair... cats love hair. =) Just like yarn or ribbons... only your hair is softer and probably smells better hehe!

no that is not strange. read an article sometime ago that said some 80% of cats like catnip... the owners of such cats are blessed becuase catnip affects them like a "happy pill" ... but there are cats - like my own Kaffe and Cato - who sniff and sneer at catnip :( Nothing wrong with them. They are just missing out on the great high other cats get from catnip.

It actually has been proven that cats who like cat-nip carry a specific gene in thier DNA make-up. It literally has been called by many vets, the "cat-nip" gene. Most cats don't have it, while some cats do. And I said that correctly, most cat's do not carry this gene. Though cat-nip is prone to activate feelings of elation for our feline companions most times that we see...most times we don't see, the majority don't respond to it. It sounds like your kitty is one of those who don't have it, a part of that majority.

My current cat couldn't care less about catnip. I think it is highly over rated for cats. I have had a lot of cats over the years and only a few have liked catnip.

Don't freak. Some cats don't have the 'catnip gene'.
My cat CC didn't give catnip a second sniff, but would go bonkers over green peppers.
My baby, Mewzette, goes ape over cashews.

Your cat is NOT strange. Not every cat likes catnip. I've had lots of cats, and some of them weren't interested in catnip, just like some people don't like to get high.
