Sore to the touch means it could be one of many things. Either you've pulled a groin muscle or ruptured a hernia, or you have an infection. You are probably the only one that can trace your actions to a groin pull, or muscle pull or a hernia, but an infection can come from numerous places.
Nothing to play around with....See a doctor right away.

You may need to see a doctor. If you pulled a muscle, he will know what you should do to relieve the pain. I think the first 24 hours of the injury you should use ice and after that, moist heat. But I would definitely check w/the doctor first!
You may have injured a nerve, that is very painful, too.

It could also be a hernia. My husband had an inguinal hernia and it hurt him in his groin and leg. Better get it checked out!!

Usually that happens to me whenever I step on my cast iron balls that drag the ground by mistake. And yeah, it really smarts!

if there is burning and pain see if blood clots run in your family , its a slim chance but still possable, dont get scared just have it checked
