Contrary to popular belief, people do not need to consume dairy products to be healthy. There are plenty sources of calcium that are much more beneficial than milk. For instance, green vegetables such as spinach and kale contain calcium. If people only knew the garbage that dairy cows are fed...not to mention the hormones that are pumped into them to increase milk production...it may be that far fewer people would rely on dairy for nutrition. Don't believe everything you hear about daily nutritional needs...it all boils down to money. Go to the library and do some research for yourself.
I cut out milk 4 months ago and I've never felt better in my life!

In Asia a lot of people are lactose intolerant so they don't eat any or very little dairy products, but they do eat a lot of soy products (soya milk, tofu, etc. which as a food is very good for you). So there are replacement foods for dairy.
If you are going to cut out dairy you should look into ways to ensure you get enough calcium (i.e. from dark green leafy veggies). I think if you are going to cut out dairy products you should do a bit of research on it first.

no it is not bad to cut out all dairy, as long as you take a calcium supplement daily. dairy can irritate IBS ,and of course you know if you are lactose intolerant you can't have dairy. it will make you lose a little weight. and you also need to know that a lot of the food you eat has dairy products in it, so if you are sensitive to dairy you may want to find out before you eat it.

Dairy products should be part of a healthy, balanced diet no matter what your age, unless you have allergies that make this impossible for you.
If you don't like dairy products, be sure that you're getting your appropriate serves of protein, energy and calcium.
You can get protein shakes that you mix with water, protein bars or can just increase your intake of legumes, meats, eggs etc. to get the protein and you can get calcium from supplement tablets available at your local chemist or supermarket.
Cutting out dairy puts you at risk of brittle bones, low energy and low muscle-mass-- you don't want to risk early-onset osteoperosis or anything, so BE SURE that if you really don't want to have the dairy, you're getting your daily requirements from elsewhere, you don't want to comprimise your long-term health and living.

I became veggie at 18, I'm now 41, I'm very healthy but I'm not sure it's so good for women, especially younger ones, to be vegan coz of osteoporosis. Check out what's available at your local health food shop so you can supplement the calcium and minerals you plan to foresake. You can get some good advice from the Vegetarian Society at the following link:
www.vegsoc.org
and get the all clear from your doctor that you're completely healthy before you start such a drastic change in your diet. If you are well planned and disciplined you can do it. As an example of the types of things you have to consider, as I said I am not vegan and I couldn't be coz in my country (Poland) it's really difficult to get good veggie products, I even eat fish coz I know I have to coz of these limitations and my very busy lifestyle, but I'd prefer not to, I simply choose not to put my wellbeing at risk. Give it a go and see how you get on :)

I don't think that's a wise move unless you are allergic to dairy or have a digestive problem. The dairy adds calcium to your body which you really need for bones and such. I would never cut out dairy completely; perhaps, go to low fat versions.

I would say that it is bad for anyone to cut out all dairy products. If they do, they will have to take a mineral supplement to provide them with the minerals they are missing out on.
Has this person decided to go 'vegan?'
Take a close look at your teeth. The front ones are for tearing meat from the bones. The smaller ones just behind are for minor chewing - and the bigger ones right at the back are for really chewing. God created us as omnivores - let us eat what he provided and enjoy it.

You have to know a lot about food and nutrition, but of course you can do this. Some people are allergic to dairy, they don't force themselves to eat it! Look for alternative sources for all the nutrients that are in dairy. Try shops that sell wholefoods and vegan foods; vegans don't eat dairy so thats a good place to start.

i don't think you want to do that. I'm allergic to dairy of any kind. I can't have any dairy product and it takes a toll on your body. It's hard to find other ways to get the vitamins you get form dairy. I'd say talk to your doctor. Unless your allergic I wouldn't do it

Removing all dairy produce is really hard. Ghandi did much in the way of examining self discipline in diet and did manage to remove all meat and spices to exist on fruit , veg and nuts. Even he could never master the total abstinence from milk products on a permanent basis and in his usual inquisitive fashion requested anyone who had managed it to let him know how.
