Silver is most commonly (or abundantly) found in the 'state' of galena ... in other words, as an ore. The most common state is probably silver sulphide, though there are other combinations.
('State' can mean other things besides an administrative area, though Americans often forget that! Had you not asked this under Jokes & Riddles, I might have said Nevada, but that would only apply to the U.S. of A.)
