The US crime rate is the highest among developed nations. Why is this?
Is it because of bad policy?
Is is because the lack of religion in people's lives?
Is it because of the degenerate media?
Is it because of the immigrants?
Is it because of the Freedom citizens enjoy, to do good, and bad?
Is it because of something else entirely?
And why is this? Motivate your answer.

clearly shows crimerates in many countries.
Your statistics are flawed, as they do not define what kind of crime was committed. A more accurate view would be the rate of inmates per 100 000 which was... 400 something, while as European countries had them in double-digits. Which is worrying if they are "getting off easy".
The crime rate in UK is also high, but I am not British, so I am not worried. :)

In the website provided they listed all kinds of crimerates, though I was too lazy to list them all, so I just did one, not just the rate of incarceration, though it seemed the easiest one to refer to.

It's really hard to say. There are so many different variables. Perhaps it's because we have too many laws, perhaps it's because we don't have enough laws.
Perhaps gun control helps lower the crime rate, perhaps access to guns by law abiding citizes reduces crime rates.
I don't have a specific answer - but here is my gut feeling (though I have no facts to support it).
Personally, I feel our crime rate is so high because we don't have strict enough guidelines, and we are too soft on criminals. The chances of getting caught for committing a crime are pretty low. The chances of getting convicted after getting caught, are pretty low. The chances of actually serving a full jail sentence are really low - you get out early for "good behavior" and because of "prison overcrowding."
Personally, I feel like there is little incentive for criminals to not break the law. The risks are far outweighed by the prospective rewards of breaking the law - so they go ahead and commit the crime.
Think about it this way - if a child knows there is little chance of them getting a negative consequence when they have misbehaved or done something wrong - they are going to go ahead and misbehave or do something wrong.
If the child knows that they will face negative consequences (be it time out, grounding, taking away of something important to them or some sort of physical punishment) when they misbehave - then they will be less likely to misbehave - the negative consequence outweighs the possible benefit of misbehaving or doing something wrong.
Granted - this doesn't work for all kids - some kids will misbehave - and any negative consequence will just cause them to misbehave even more - however, I think those children are the minority.
My point in going on about children is that it is the same way in society. Personally, I think we need a drastic reform of the legal system, and the criminal justice system, and the penal system. Only then, and after many years - will crime rates really go down - and stay down.

Greed. All good paying jobs have been sent to other countries by Republicans. The federal Minimum wage is $5.15 per hour because Republicans will not increase it. In five States now it's over $10.
republicans want to end Social Security, they have always had that goal. We have a $9 trillion national debt, all done by Republicans. Clinton had a surplus all 8 years.
44 million Americans have no basic Health Insurance and half are women and children. Republicans have stopped every effort to help Americans with affordable Health care.
Now do you see why free health care, food, heat in the cold and a roof over your head is the path many take in life. Without choices and in desperation many chose crime as a way of life and tax payers pay the price for it.
Another reason is that Clinton passed the 3 strikes and your out law, prison has many that are there for smoking pot. I hope you don't have over 3 ozs. in your pocket.

Your question does not define the type of crime either.
Incarceration rates are not more accurate for two reasons:
1. They do not account for unsolved crimes.
2. They do not account for punishments other the incarceration.

basically because of the fact Russia's crime fee is 4 circumstances worse than u . s . of america's, does no longer recommend u . s . of america does not have a criminal offense situation. it truly is like asserting somebody with a leg amputated does not have a situation because of the fact some are quadriplegics. I spent 8 years rambling in the process the back alleys of Japan's maximum run down factors at 3AM, wearing funds, many times inebriated, usually uncertain of the place i grew to become into. under no circumstances felt a tinge of worry, under no circumstances had a situation. it truly is a rustic with low crime. A homicide there, which generally occurs a number of circumstances an afternoon interior the U.S., makes front internet site information. there are a number of neighborhoods in u . s . of america i does no longer dare undertaking into interior the U.S.

Check your statistics the US has a substantially lower crime rate then all European countries, and the US would be 30% lower if not for crimes committed by Illegal alien. Most likely it is because of the right to have firearms(said by a Dutch official), and the rate of violent crime in Europe has been increasing yearly.

The US is a de fector Calvinist republic which through a very narrow application of Classical Theory has take up a crusade to punish the sins of its citizens. It has embraced the fallacy of Deterrence through punishment. This approach is blinding the nation to the actual cause of crime which is a very complicated mixture of Cognitive Landscape, Association, Neutralization of ethics, run-away capitalism in support of the status-quo, economics, and social conditioning. These causes do not have easy answers. The nation today is embracing simple answers, and complex situations do not have simple answers. In today's US it can be summed up, "The rich get richer, and the poor go to jail."
I am taking a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, and my current studies is a class in Criminology.

It's because of the war on drugs, and the profits and jobs it creates.Illegal means expensive,so addicts are forced to STEAL,and worse,to support their habits.make the illegal drugs legal and CONTROLLED by the government rather than by the mob.then people wouldn't have to steal and kill so much.Of course, then we'd have to figure out what to do with all the un needed prison gaurds, cops and judges.Maybe they could start fighting REAL crime, like government/corperate crimes!
It works with Alcohol,Tabacco, and Caffine, all of which are much more harmful then,Marijauna for instance.

well for starters we US folks have corrupt leaders who want nothing more but to harass and destroy morale of their citizenry and in my area of the USA judges are bound by a law called Mandatory Minimums as far as sentencing where minor offenses get major prison and jail sentences for even first offense and without proper training on how not to be in jail or prison 9 times out of 10 the person who gets released from jail or prison will end up back behind bars sad as it is to say.... there are examples of sucess though Dwayne "The Dog" Chapman comes to mind when talking about sucesses....
The man was a strung out biker gang warlord caught in a robbery gone horribly wrong.....Dwayne when he got out of a texas prison became the world's most foremost Bounty Hunter and motivational speaker....
I think the world needs more folks like him

Since the 1940's crime, per capita, has dropped. What has risen is crime reporting and public hysteria.
