Attack your library and read 4-5 books on each subject. Talk to practising engineers. Join the local chapter of the IEEE and attend heir meetings and meet engineers who care about their profession. Read trade journals/magazines and keep track of advances in your field. Read the IEEE Spectrum and IEEE Proceedings. Try to find your calling in the vast area of electronics. Update your computer programming skills. Update on C, C++, Tcl/Tk, Perl, etc., all of great use in the electronics design industry. When you start to ask such questions, you are on the right path. Good luck!

Try to learn theory from the text books well. Apply them in practise. Many journals and books are available for getting hobbyist's kits. Try to use and make your own gadgets. you may not be able to do it well in the beginning but, with perseverance you can definitely become a good one at it. You should have both practise and theoretical understanding of the subject to go ahead. Moreover lot of trial software are available in the net which you can use to simulate electronic devices. That will help you to understand theory better.

To be intelligent in your field you have to learn and study as much as possible. First you should have the attitude to learn; you will automatically be intelligent.

I have a feeling that you should work on the theory of artificial intelligence. Which should be rewarding as it will give you an understanding of the concept of intelligence and it's uses in automation and everyday life.

Same question during my Degree Course, and lastly i find the answer. Getting the right answer is not important, but getting to understand each formula how it works is the right way of studying. The basic understanding of the theorem is important for engineering as it marks how creative and innovative yourself.

Trade magazines and study hard. Create projects for yourself to do outside of school. Start correspondence with students in other universities and see what they are doing.

Ultimately, if you are not getting the results you expect, try transfering schools.
