I want to move to New York. I did want to live in the city but I also like the country.
Anyone here live in Up State NY? What are some of the names of the towns?
Where would you recomend someone move too?
And is it too far away from NYC?

Thanks.

Try some of the rural or small towns around Syracuse in upstate NY. It's very rolling hills, very beautiful country side. You'll love it there.'

I used to live in what is REALLY upstate NY. I lived in the following towns: Watertown, Gouveneur, Canton, Alexandria Bay (stunning!), and little old Russell. NYC is 500 or more away, but Canada is a rock throw away. It is awesome country, quiet, super beautiful and more. I suggest you have a profession to move there though because the jobs are limited at times.

I live in Upstate NY. Well, honestly, there is NOTHING to do! I'm 20 miles away from CANADA and about 5 hrs away from NYC. I like the fact that there is no crime, no traffic....BUT the winters are really bad around here, there is nothing what so ever to do. ALOT of racist people and job pay HORRIBLE around here!

Some of the towns that I live by:

Watertown, NY
Evans Mills, NY
Syracuse (city about an hr away)--you'll find plenty of stuff to do here

NY is very big. It takes 8 hours to drive from NYC to Buffalo, so you are gonna have to be more specific. It also depends on how much money you have. Westchester county, just north of NYC, is very nice, but expensive.

Pougkespsie,Monroe,Albany,Fishkills..these are some places in upstate and they are all real nice. Pougkespie is getting alot better with transportation, building new store and companies.Monroe is alittle more country and you said that you like that..Albany is way out there cand Fishkills is between Pougkespie and Monroe. Upstate is a good place to live. My friend that I would with lives in Buffalo and she said cost of living is great.

My sister and her hubby used to live in Syracuse. It's an okay town. They liked it okay and I liked visiting it. Sometimes the winters get pretty bad. It's not close to NYC.
