To learn about the radicalization of Islam you may be interested to read the 58 page .pdf file written in 2004 and translated from Dutch. It gives some insight into the conceptual foundation of the AIVD's study of radical Islam.

Dawa (proselytizing) is an obligatory duty (fard) for Muslims. Muslims call it “inviting others to Islam.” Proselytizing for any faith, despite the negative connotations some attach to it, is not threatening. The freedom of faith guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, however, rests on the Judeo-Christian concept that all individuals have the right to choose and follow any faith, or none at all. But Islam essentially contradicts this Judeo-Christian principle. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=8844

8 stages of radicalization
1. Efforts to create anti-democratic views on the state by non-violent means
2. Overt propagation of exclusivism and parallelism.
3. Covert propagation exclusivism and parallelism using hidden agendas under false pretenses.
4. Covert attempts to undermine structures of democratic legal order.
5. Covert pursuit of subversion of structures of democratic legal order.
6. Secret encouragement of serious tensions among groups in society.
7. Pursuit of exclusivism and parallelism via overt violent activities.
8. Efforts to create anti-democratic views on the state by violent means.

According to Christian ethics lying is a sin; In Islamic jurisprudence and theology, the use of taqiyya against the unbelievers is regarded as a virtue and a religious duty.

Very young Muslims grapple with the moral dilemma in which lying is permitted. "Taqiya" (or taqiyyah) [ التقية - 'fear, guard against ] is related to the terms "taqwa'" (piety, devotion) and "taqi'" - all have the root meaning of "guarding" something, such as the Islamic faith. "Taqiyyah" is from the root "waqaa" (to safeguard). It is based on Qur'an 3:28 and 16:106 as well as hadith, tafsir literature, and juridical commentaries.

The only lies which are not tolerated in Islam are:
----A lie against Allah.
----A lie against Muhammad.
----Lying to, or about, fellow Muslims

Quran Sura 6:93
Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah, or saith, "I have received inspiration," when he hath received none, or (again) who saith, "I can reveal the like of what Allah hath revealed"? If thou couldst but see how the wicked (do fare) in the flood of confusion at death! - the angels stretch forth their hands, (saying), "Yield up your souls: this day shall ye receive your reward,- a penalty of shame, for that ye used to tell lies against Allah, and scornfully to reject of His signs!"

Narrated Al-Mughira: I heard the Prophet saying, "Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else. Whosoever tells a lie against me intentionally then surely let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire." ... (Sahih al-Bukhari 2.378, cf. 1.106-108)

Cases in which lying IS permitted clearly include
to save one's life;
to effect a peace or reconciliation;
to persuade a woman;
on the occasion of a journey or expedition.

The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (s) has also testified to the legitimacy of Taqiyyah is Halal until the Day of Judgement. Imam of Ahl ul Sunnah Hasan Basri states in Sahih Al-Bukhari, Egypt ed., vol. 9, pp. 24-25, Kitab al Ikra:

"?. And `Abd ibn Hamid has narrated from al-Hasan (al-Basri) that he said: `Taqiyah is lawful upto the day of resurrection. And `Abd (ibn Hamid) has narrated from Abu Raja' that he was reciting, `illa an tattaqu minhum taqiyatan'; and `Abd ibn Hamid has narrated from Qatadah that he was reciting (likewise) .... taqiyatan with ya"....And Hassan (Basri) said: `Taqiyah is upto the Day of Resurrection .... And the Prophet (s.a:w.) said: `Deed are according to intention

Taqiyah is used to prevent the new converts from seeing the real face of Islam; at least until their faith or mental conditioning is strong enough to make them turn against their own country and people.

Taqiyah is used to effect the strategic objective to destroy the foundations of the non-Muslim civilizations, as a prelude to the defeat of an isolated Israel, India, United States of America, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Egypt, Afghanistan, etc.

Of course taqiyah is permitted if there is definite danger facing one's own life or the life of one's family, or the possibility of the loss of the honor and virtue of one's wife or of other female members of the family,or the danger of the loss of one's material belongings to such an extent as to cause complete destitution and prevent a man from being able to continue to support himself and his family.

"Taqiyah" (dissimulation) is the opposite of "nifaq" (hipocricy).

Nifaq - Belief against Islam in heart but declaration of Islam in words is "nifaq" (hipocricy).
Taqiyah - Correct belief of Islam by heart but declaration of anti‑Islamic belief in words is "taqiyah" (dissimulation).

"Kithman", (kitmam) is concealing religious beliefs from non-Muslims. This is part of 'striving in the way of Allah’ by debate.

"Kikmat" is the wisdom of lying.

Ibn Taymiyyah, who (of his own choosing) devised the following 2 conditions / (innovations) into the Islamic Sharia:
Taqiyyah can only be done in front of Kuffar (non-Muslims). While practising Taqiyyah, one cannot tell a "LIE". One can remain silent, but in no case tell a lie.

"Know that the long arguments for and against taqiyah are useless …. but there is no doubt in its validity and legality. Of course, common people do not like the term (taqiyah). Otherwise, the whole world uses it naturally, though some call it `tolerance', others name it as `diplomacy, and some call it `common sense'.

Muslims are sometimes accused of lying when they are presenting Islam in a manner that is acceptable to the listener. But this is a common educational strategy. It is not difficult to determine and understand that different people understand words differently. This causes them to misunderstand what a person is saying. This may lead to many futile arguments or to long discussions to clarify what is meant. The intelligent thing to do, therefore, is to learn about the culture of a people, their ideas and values and about how they use and understand language. Then to explain things accordingly rather than by a literal translation of the Quran.

"The intellectual - and thereby the rational - foundation of Islam results in the average Muslim having a curious tendency to believe that non-Muslims either know that Islam is the truth and reject it out of pure obstinacy, or else are simply ignorant of it and can be converted by elementary explanations; that anyone should be able to oppose Islam with a good conscience quite exceeds the Muslim's imagination, precisely because Islam coincides in his mind with the irresistible logic of things."

First of all no one can convert to Islam.. everyone will REVERT to Islam one day Insha-allah.. becoz every child born on this earth is a muslim.. it is his/her parents that tell him/her about the religion..

The dictionary meaning of the word Fundamentalist is the person who knows fundamentals.. i know the fundamentals of Islam.. hence i m a Muslim Fundamentalist.. the western media portrays fundamentalists as terrorists.. which is wrong..

If anyone reads Quran by heart and understanding each and every verse of it.. then he can't remain a non-believer.. this is the beauty of Islam..

To GoldWing.. the first answerer of this Question.. i don't know from where did u get the number 72.. first read the Quran.. and then point ur fingers.. it is true that muslims are promised virgns in heavens.. but the way ur using it to abuse Islam, is wrong..

To Gary.. u pointed out that..
"Muslims reject Jesus's divinity;
they reject his claim to be the Son of God;
they reject his death on the cross;
they reject His ressurrection.."

Well not only muslims but even Jesus Christ(PBUH) has not claimed all the points which u posted here.. i have read Bible.. and there is not a single verse that say Jesus (PBUH) claimed divinity.. neither he claimed to be Son of God.. nor death on cross or there is no such word as "resurrection" in Bible.. in bible it has been written that "Jesus Christ (PBUH) was risen" which doesn't mean resurrection..
"i sleep and i rise.. i don't get resurrected"

Allhumdollilah we muslims follow the teachings of Jesus Christ (PBUH) more than the Christians..
Jesus(PBUH) said do not eat pork.. we muslms don't eat it
Jesus(PBUH) said do not drink alcohol.. we muslims don't drink it.. and this is a endless list.. plz study bible and as well as Quran..

What you call ''true'' Islam and ''fundamental'' Islam is the same religion. A fundamentalist practices the religion in a more strict manner. You will find this in Judaism and Christianity, too.

Could you be referring to ''radicalism'' in Islam-so called terrorists? These people pervert Islam, say they are following it-but, everything they do goes against the true faith.

none. As far as I can see, they are all terrorists that I would persoanlly like to help on their road to 72 Virgins. I have a question for you. Are muslims so afraid of being compared in the sex department that they only want a Virgin who knows nothing about sex? Are they all that small below the waist, or only that small in the brain area.

Islam claims Jesus was a prophet but reject all His teachings ..
Muslims reject Jesus's divinity;
they reject his claim to be the Son of God;
they reject his death on the cross;
they reject His ressurrection..
They reject Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
Need I say more...?

There is a VAST difference between Islam's God and the God of Jesus Christ.

There is only one Islam teaching, and all tribe of muslim have different interpretations. Because, according to their prophets and some scholars (muslim), its hard to explain. so, everyone has his own agenda of interpretation. When it come to JIHAD they are all alike, like the 3-musketeers 'ALL FOR ONE, AND ONE FOR ALL'
