Just people who are into certain music scenes and subcultures.
Gothic scene focuses heavily on metal, and dark clothing and basically anything out of hot topic.
Emo is post-punk/alternative rock heavily focused on lyrics of emotional pain and self anguish.

Gothic has a devil connection with it. Emo has no connection. It used to be that when someone went gothic, they "sold their soul to the devil," but now, people just do it for a fashion statement sometimes.
