Clean with CD cleaner or with tooth paste cream. It works.

Ignore the person who said to fill in the scratch with peanut butter.

Take it to Block Buster Video instead.

They have a machine they use to get the scratches out of DVD's and video games. Maybe they will put it on the machine for you - which polishes the scratch out - and maybe not. But it's worth a try - because if they do fix it - they will fix your problem for free.

Office Depot sells a smaller version of this DVD polishing machine. The last time I checked? It's around 30 dollars. Whether you want to spend that money or not, will depend on a lot of things - including how much the video game cost. If you are still living at home however, then you might not have a lot of money.

Another thing to try is taking a piece of tissue - or even toilet paper. Dip it in rubbing alcohol and then clean the video game disc with that. Maybe it will work. Maybe not. Maybe the scratch is too deep. But it's worth a shot - and will cost you little or nothing.

HINT: When you are trying to fix something, always try the free or cheap ideas first. That's with ANYTHING - not just a DVD or video game. It works pretty good with car engines to. Even though you might end up spending a lot of money later, you could also get lucky - and not have to spend hardly anything at all.

Age old secret. Actually I learned this while I was in Iraq 2 years ago. If you take a little bit of lotion and smooth it over the entire CD it will fill in the scratches. It may not work for HUGE scratches but it has always worked for me. Good luck let me know how it works for you.

If it's just one game CD, maybe take it to a video rental place & see if they'll repair it cheaply. Or you can spend $25 at Best Buy and get one of those resurfacer/scratch removers like the GameDoctor, which allows you to resurface many CDs and DVDs.

All the other people forget to mention one thing: if the scratches are on the TOP (the label side), you're screwed. That's NOT fixable, since all the data are on the underside of that side. That's why polishing the BOTTEM side CAN help.

Lotion is mentioned: well... If fluids come into your DVD/CD -drive, you probably can kiss it goodbye.

First you must learn to properly construct a sentence; use punctuation, capitol letters in the appropriate places, etc.

Then buy a CD/DVD repair kit and follow the directions. You will note that the directions use properly constructed sentences. Study this, and learn.

Alot of movie hire places have scratch repair machine these days, and they'll let you use them for a couple of dollars. They are better than repair kits you get from places like sanity.
