Required courtesy. And - women always leave over half their food just to prove they are not "fat" to themselves. The fatter they are the more they leave while drinking their "diet" drink. Then they order the triple chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream for dessert. The resturant makes a mint on these people. Not to ask is financial suicide. If you order it - then eat it. If it is always too much for you get a "doggie" bag every time or ask for smaller portions when you order. Wasting food because you are "arrogant" is stupid, dumb, rude, and nasty. We should not wast food and should not be forced to eat it all now. FAT is a problem.

It is possible to eat dessert after being stuffed. You can say, yeah I want some, but not right now. Or you can just pile it on top to cap off a great meal. Also they are paid to ask. If they don't ask they could lose their job, or miss out on a tip. It's called promotion. Maybe you will say yes if asked, but not bother if nobody asks. How annoyed do people get if you take no notice of them. Then they start yelling and screaming - where's the check? Can i have some water, etc. Is it that difficult to say " no thanks" when someone asks a question.

That's a funny question...I liked it, it's so true, but they would probably have a doc in pay if they didn't ask about dessert. Maybe they get some takers for dessert that just take it home because they're "too full to eat another bite."

Why do you go out to eat? Do you expect to pay for it? That's your reason - "Money" - the "economy" runs because of it - why not a restruant! A resturant is only in business to make "money", like any other consumer based business - - - !!!!! Hey, It doesn't matter if people are "stuffed" or not - they figure you can wait till your food has settled and then partake of their "desert food"! What - a waiter/waitress is hired so that the resturant will make more money! They are out to sell you anything that you will possibly pay for!!!!! Get it???????

Cos it is a part of theire job to ask - basic courtesy - cos the last course of the meal is the dessert, unless it's a French meal where cheese is served afterwards. Whether you have it or not is not their problem; how are they supposed to know how much you have eaten? But it is their job to ask!

They have to ask the question, it's part of their job. What I don't like is when you tell them no you can't eat another bite, the waiter or waitress will stand there and laugh at you like you said something funny.

I total understand what you are saying. I know some people who will not eat all their dinner to save room for dessert. I hate dessert but other love it.

They are only doing what they are paid to do.........some people in fact do want dessert after a meal. If you don't want it,at least be polite and just say "no thank you"

Because they are required to do so. Also, you might be too full to eat now, but you might want to take the dessert to go.
