I accidentally hit a cat 20 years ago when I first started my job, I was tired and the cat ran out in front of my car and I didn't see it until I felt the thump, I felt bad for weeks. I went around the block to get it out of the street and it freaked, then it died. I was not myself for a while. Please no anti-animal statements, thanx in advance. I still feel bad.

As luck would have it......never.....up to yet....and I hope I never do.
Accidents happen. After 20 years you should stop feeling bad. Maybe it would help you to feel better if you got your own cat and really really looked after it to sort of make up for the one you accidentally hurt.

I think I would still be feeling bad as well, btw. But I've got 4 cats and I am their slave......

Also about 20 years ago I was driving early in the morning (still dark) to the airport.

A rabbit was sitting in the middle of the road.
I slowed right down but there was another car coming towards me.

The stupid rabbit ran in front of the other car and I saw everything through my headlights as the wheel went over it.

The other driver must have seen it - but as we know - there are some really nasty people around.

Ruined my holiday - and I still remember it.

Oh by the way - No, I'm not some small scared dolly bird.
At the time I was a 15 stone lorry driver.

I never ran over anything living; but I can imagine how bad you must feel that you ran over a cat... It was an accident. All I can think of that will make you possibly feel a bit better is say a prayer of forgiveness and try to imagine the cat in CAT HEAVEN becuase I am fairly certain that cats have an afterlife... no: am not kidding. God and His angels may keep it there for a while or send it back to earth as a kitten.

I hit a squirrel when i was just learning to drive, it was my first time driving my car and i just had a permit. I saw the squirrel and tried to avoid it but I couldn't and I ended up hitting it. I was really sad and cried a little. I've also hit a couple of birds. I think if I ever hit a cat or a dog I will cry a lot because I love cats so much.

Ouch - my partner went to reverse his car 3 days ago and did not notice that there was a very small kitten sleeping, snuggled up to his back tyre. It was awful!! He went to pieces and we had to take the poor little thing (which thankfully had died very quickly) and bury it.

A Horrible Horrible thing to happen. The only thing that I can say is - for both you and him, you are lucky the cat died quickly, it would have been much worse if it had died slowly.

Accept that it has happened to you. It shows that you are a caring person if it has affected you in this way, some people don't give a damn.

When I was learning to drive, I ran over a kitten that had gotten up under my car wheel, unbeknownst to me. My sister started beating me on the back, yelling, "You killed the little kitty!". Now this was way before animals were typically kept indoors all the time, way before leash laws, etc. So, I felt bad then, but I dont now. A dog ran in front of our car on the highway one Easter Sunday morning on the way to Sunrise Service. He didnt rise again. It kinda put a damper on the service for me, but animals do run out in front of cars, and sometimes its unavoidable.

Yes. I hit a dog during a really bad snow storm. He darted out of nowhere and I had cars all around me, so I had no option but to hit it. It flew through the air, and that's the last I saw of it. When I got home, I had dog fur on the front bumper.
And I agree with what you said about feeling really bad. This happened to me about 16 years ago, and I can still picture it.

No, yet an animal very virtually hit my motor vehicle as quickly as. i grow to be on I-ninety going in the direction of Buffalo, long island at 3 interior the morning, and a deer got here precise around the line, and that i very virtually hit the rattling element. those issues can do greater harm to the motor vehicle than themselves.

I hit a deer. it took the fender off the car. Stupid thing. I felt bad, but I figured there was nothing I could have done to avoid it except not have driven that day. Don't feel TOO bad.
