Mucus With Blood From Mouth

2016-11-07 00:57:59 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

If it goes with your mucus then it could possibly be respiratory in nature. But others can also cause it. These are the possibilities that I can remember so far.

1. Bronchitis
2. Pneumonia
3. Pulmonary tuberculosis (cavitary)
4. Bronchiectasis
5. Bronchogenic carcinoma
6. Pulmonary infarction
7. Pulmonary embolism
8. Trauma

Bleeding gums can sometimes be mistaken as pulmonry in origin as blood mixes with sputum as it is spat out. Posterior nasal bleeding is also a possiblity.

To find out if it is pulmonary in origin, a postero-anterior chest x-ray exposure can be of great help on the initial work-up for a start to support tha history and other physical examination done.

spitting blood wth mucus can have many reason and you have to specifically write as to whether it was mucus or saliva. usually with history of cough and fever with evening rise along with weight lose for 2-3 weeks are considered to be dignostic of tuberculosis.
In pneumonia too u can see a blood in sputum(i.e mucus). In cardiac conditions, like pulmonary hypertension, you are likely to see blood in mucus. bronchogenic carcinoma is another disease where blood is present in mucus. In sarciodosis too , u will find blood in mucus.

Well, if the person was coughing and the blood came out with the mucous, then it could either be some type of cancer or tuberculosis. Whoever is coughing up blood should be checked.

If it is "bright red" blood it's probably coming from either the mouth or throat and NOT usually serious..usually just a broken blood vessel. If it is DARK red blood or looks like "coffee grounds" don't walk RUN to the hospital...that's internal bleeding...

Your sinus cavity may be too dry, resulting in blood vessels cracking open. There are products to help alleviate this problem. Use them.

Or you could be suffering from bleeding gums. Floss regularly and
see your dentist.

Or you could be picking your nose too much. Stop that this instant. It is disgusting.

you have a tear somewhere in your mouth, nose, throat or stomach. Probably your mouth / nose, as any further down the blood would start to break down quickly.
