When it becomes more important than what it represents for example money some people worship it they cant get enough of it ,But what it really is is just a piece of paper that says I promise that there is gold somewhere to cover this amount ( n theory we had enough gold in storage to cover every dollar printed but that thought went away years ago)

An Ideal........Idea, hoped for goal, plan........

It will become an Idol when it takes on a life of it's own, and is more important to you than your Relationship with God.

Anything you place first in your life, before God, is an idol. And an idol only leads you on a path to destruction.

A well misquoted phrase about money comes to mind. Money is not the root of all evil. Money is a necessity. We need it to survive. There is nothing inherently wrong with money. The proper quote is: "The love of money is the root of all evil". It's the love of money that becomes the idol. And it's that love of money that leads us on paths of destruction.

When an idea takes over all your thoughts, your time, and your efforts---------then it becomes an idol. When it is first in your life, you had better do a reality check.
