Black! The only real licorice is the black licorice which is actually made from the licorice root and other flavorings like anise. Red is not actually considered licoroice. It is only called red licorice because it has the same look, consistancy and snap which resembles black licorice, but is made with strawberry or cherry flavorings rather than licorice.

Black, that's what licorice is all about, the red stuff is a manufactured something or another, black is the real deal Nice thing about black licorice is if ya eat to much it gives ya the "Hersey squirts" in short order....
