I remember when REAL MEN sang REAL MEN's jody calls in the Army, then somewhere around the Carter administration, the whining, politically-correct liberals put a stop to any jody that included a "bad" word.

I recall this specifically since I served then and remember a commander at Fort Hood actually getting RELIEVED of command because his troops sung one such spicy jody as they were running PT. I thought it was disgusting then, and I think the same now.

As a combat arms commander myself the following decade, I pondered the wisdom of leading my soldiers in such a jody as we rounded Giessen depot in Germany, always being LOUD enough to awaken any slackers. I decided then that, although it was a risk to my own careeer, we were GONNA DO IT! And we did. One of the best decisions I ever made in my illustrious military career.

A yellow bird
with a yellow bill
Was sittin' on
my window sill
I lured him in
with a piece of bread
And then I smashed
his F*CKING head!!

In the Marines when i left in 92 some units were trying to stop but it seemed more voluntary than anything.
Our unit didn't do it so while morning runs(PT) we would direct some of our cadence to the politically correct group after a few time the PC group got back with the program and we were all cussing again.

I don't know, but I hope that they are not politically correct anymore. I would think that when President Reagan took office, that they would forget about peanut farmer Carter and proceed with REAL MEN Jody calls.
Thank You for your service. The Jody call at the end was alright.

we sang quite a few cadences with cuss words in basic and ait two years ago at fort knox. thank god i was in a combat arms job so we had only men in the companies and didnt have to worry about offending the fairer sex's sensibilities.

I sang "yellow bird" in 1989.

We didn't worry about being PC with our calls when I was in('89 to '98), but we did watch who was around when we sang.

Go Army!

Ain't no use in looking down, ain't no discharge on the ground.
Ain't no use in looking back, Jody's driving your Cadillac.
Ain't no use in feeling Blue, Jody's got your girlfriend too.
