Yes, I have lost 5 kilograms in 5 weeks. But I have been exercising for an hour (and sometimes more), 6 days a week.
I do walking, bike riding, cardio workouts, a bit of backyard boxing bag punching, I use weights to burn a bit of fat while building up muscle. I have my Sundays off, just to give my body a break to recover.
I have also cut down my carbohydrates and sugar intake. I drink more water and avoid juices and soft drinks. I don't eat alot of potatoes, or starchy foods, and I limit myself to two slices of bread a day (on top of my other foods). I try and eat more veges or fruit than meat.
I don't deny myself nice little things to eat though. If I feel like chocolate I'll have a little.

I always used to be a bit plump (hardly overweight) but last year my life changed dramatically and I gained 10 kg in a few months. I wasn't happy with the way I looked and felt and I opted for a healthier lifestyle. I reduced my weight by 5 kg every month for 5 months and I know it's possible! I was rather thin and much more attractive as a result. It takes motivation and patience mostly. Regular physical activity and a reasonable diet, nothing really excessive, however. I weighed myself about once every two months to avoid useless worries.
Amazingly, the most difficult part turned to be getting accustomed to my new rather thin body. I had no big mirrors at my place and after the dramatic change took place I would get startled any time I had a chance to see myself. Most of my friends who had known me for years couldn't recognize me. Now I feel comfortable with the way I look and I managed to keep my new healthy habits - e.g. I used to be a chain smoker and I quit :)
Reducing your weight effectively is possible and not very difficult. But don't get obsessed with number of kgs lost - this can only be discouraging. Be positive and good luck!

It is possible but probably not healthy to lose weight that fast. General recommendation is about one pound each week.
If you lose weight very rapidly it is typically just loss of water which has no lasting effect, will make you feel bad, and can be quite dangerous depending on your overall health.

Only if you can be on your feet for 8 hours a day (walk, run or just stand as if waiting for somebody or searching for something or somebody) and eat not more than 1500 calories. It happend in few cases I have seen. Take it as play acting. You have to stay off your regular work even it warrants to be on your feet. This is only if you can afford to take leave from the job, and that is a condition. Sounds funny but it worked. I am serious.
