Lately I've been contemplating joining myspace to reconnect with old friends. I was browsing some of the profiles and was almost nauseated by how degrading some of those pages are. I know there are many people on there who just want to have an outlet for staying intouch with friends and meeting new people, but why are there so many that are soooo gross?? If I had a child I would not let them have a myspace even if they set their profile to private. Is it true that many child molesters pray on that site to find their next victims??

YES, it's true! That's why they have the option to set yours to private. And, come on, most kids have brains, they hear what's going on and they aren't that stupid. Sure there are a few out there who don't care and will go against their parents wishes. Just like with setting the example of not smoking or drinking, you can teach your kids right from wrong in this case also. I've SEEN some of those degrading sights and a lot of those are just teens competing to see who's myspace is the most outrageous. There are quite a few funny ones, also! You just have to KEEP AN EYE OPEN WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE CONCERNED! They may not like it, but then again, kids are kids. They don't like most restrictions put upon them.

Try G2Bay instead. This is a social networking site where people help each other make and save money. People post their photos, blogs, news, product and service reviews and talk about the stocks they own. Every user gets a Million Dollar Page where advertisers pay to find the right customers. This is a no-spam site where people have to pay $1 to send an email. This is a totally legit site with no joining fees, no credit cards.

It's not a site to let children run around unsupervised... They've put new controls & safeguards in recently, but as a responsible parent you should monitor all of your child's online activites, not just myspace.

there are many ways of keeping it safe. private profile is one way. another is to set it so you cant add a person unless you know thier email address or last name. its safe.....not for a 5 yaer old but thats why you have to be 14.....people put whatever on their pages...under movies mine says hardcore bondage porn...ive never watched one...its just for laughs...if you have a child and let them on i suggest that you check on their pages frequently w/o their knowing just to make sure they're not doing anything wrong.

It is safe as long as u take the right things.Like only letting her friends see her profile and things lik that so perverts don't try to look at her.

i do no longer think of the internet itself and as an entire is secure for every physique, inspite of the guy's age. yet once you ought to make advantageous approximately what your baby is watching mutually as utilising information superhighway or an specific website, you could consistently be there with him and instruct him with regard to the risks of the internet once you're at it. i in my opinion would not and could no longer enable my little infants be contaminated with the internet, it could fairly be risky to infants specifically if isn't use properly.

the internet is not really safe for children. Anybody can act as anyone. Pretend to be someone else.
the children are often naive, and you have not to trust anyone.
