The Trinity is defined as "One God in Three Persons," all three of whom, as distinct and co-eternal "persons" share a single Divine essence, being, or nature. Some say that one is not saved unless they believe this doctrine.

I certainly understand the triune nature of the Christian God. However, it has always struck me as a 'have your cake and eat it too' clumsy construct instead of as a Great Mystery.

Why don't they just come out and admit that they've got three Gods? The whole point of monotheism as opposed to polytheism was that there shouldn't be characteristics applied to the Deity because people are not sufficiently knowledgeable about God to do so. As soon as you start saying that God has brown hair, or prefers white bread, or other such nonsense, you are dictating the features/functions/attributes of God, and God is no longer a single entity but divides into the various characteristics you apply.

This is clearly evident by creating Father, Son, and Holy Spririt, and by further additions like the Virgin Mary, saints as minor gods as in the Catholic tradition, etc.

Actually do you REALLY understand the concept of Trinity? Are you aware that Trinity was not taught by the New Testament Church? Are you aware the Trinity doctrine was never even a consideration until Tertullian formulated the concept circa 200 AD?

Its a fact. The Roman Catholic Church made Tertullian's pet project an official doctrine about a century later, and all off-shoot and separatist (protestant) churchs maintained some of the harlot mother church's (Roman Catholic) false antichristial doctrines, Sunday worship over and against Sabbath worship is another example of many of these things.

First, we need to understand that human beings can not easily comprehend the concept of God. Each one is different. With different likings. That way they are not equal, though everyone is part of God.

This concept of difference, was well acknowledged by the those who established the doctrine of the Trinity.

Two neighbours staying in the same apartment complex may choose two different paths, FOR THEIR MORNING WALK. Is anyone better than the other? No. Simply they are different.

Hence the concept of Trinity was established. Like a prime minister or President though all powerfull by themself, having a team of ministers or secretaries to look after things efficiently- to give vent to the differences that the society invariably has within itself..

Yes, I understand the Trinity. God the Father and Creator; God the Son, our Lord Jesus who came as a man to show us the way and then to become a sacrifice for our sins; and the Holy Spirit which came as the Comforter until Jesus returns. Jesus said,"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me."
As for the denominations that get all caught up in legalism, I just look to the Word Of God!

I think it is about understanding that God, if one is to understand God, one needs to see that being as multi-faceted, just as humans are. Are we not supposed to be created in God's image. Of course, in Genesis, God refers to self as "we" a couple of times.

Some say you cannot go to Heaven unless you are Catholic. Some say that if you die for a certain cause, then you will go to Paradise and have a bunch of virgins at your beck and call. Some say that people who are born poor are that way because of bad past life karma. One sect of a religion requires you to wipe your butt with your weak hand, I have been told. At least one religion requires baby boys to get their foreskin cut off in a religious ritual. Others require baby girls to have their clitoris cut off.

I was raised Catholic. Long ago, I decided that there have got to be other religions that are right. That maybe the limitations are imposed by human beings. My relationship with my Higher Power is personal. It is not subject to external rules.

My spiritual belief system is very simple: I try to live daily, not hurting myself, and not hurting others. Now, I don't do it perfectly, but I do my best. The beauty is in the simplicity. I can cut out the middle man and the lawyers.

You have not carefully read the Bible... there are many but the most important is whne Jesus said "before Abraham was "I AM" Everyone, especially the Jews knew exactly what Jesus was saying. He was saying He was the one who spoke to Moses in the burning bush... you can't get more direct than that.!
It is clearly stated. In fact in John 8:58, when he was asked if He was greater than Abraham, He said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." And the Jews picked up stones to stone him for blasphemy. "I am" of course is an explicit reference to the name of God in the Old Testament.

Hello!! :o) I THINK I understand it. First - there is God. Then there is Jesus. [God becoming MAN] And Third - God becoming Spirit. [or 'Holy Ghost' as some say] God is in heaven. Jesus is also in heaven - but WAS on earth. The 'Spirit of God' lives within those who believe. [Helping us to do what pleases God] God became MAN [Jesus] for two reasons. To gain an understanding of what man endures when being tempted by Satan. [Notice how Jesus was tempted] And to give man an opportunity to be 'completely washed of his sins'. As far as I know - the only requirement for being 'saved' is to accept Jesus and to follow Him. [To abide by His teachings] Some also believe [as I think I do - but I'm still not quite sure] that a 'man' must also be 'baptised'. [A symbolic gesture of one 'dying' and being 'born anew' in Christ] Once a person is 'saved' - God moves into our souls in the form of a 'Spirit'. Our 'conscience' [one could say] is now being lead by God Himself. The Trinity is also known as, 'The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost'. [Or 'Holy Spirit'] I find it all quite fascinating - to be honest. And as a Christian - I must confess. I came to believe in God in spite of what many 'Christians' were saying and doing. [And not because of 'them'] It wasn't until I decided NOT to allow 'man' to decide for me if I was going to believe in God - that I came to believe. If a person watched too many televangelists [as I once did] it's easy to believe that God is quite awful. I hope that helps. Craig!! :o)

Trinity- is artificial created by people doctrine. It is the biggest lie on the Earth which made many people mistakenly follow by this religious teaching. God is God, Jesus is His prophet like many others... Nobody knows how God looks like. If to state Jesus was God, it means God had showen Himself to people. ...

If I said I understood it completely, that would be a stretch, but at some level I DO understand it and it makes sense to me.

When I pray, I pray directly to God. I finish my prayer saying, "in the name of Jesus I pray", and I understand through scripture that the Holy Spirit takes my prayer and makes it "presentable" to God.

So, it takes all three of these to have a relationship with any of them.

They all seem to have separate wills, but since they are each a separate manifestation of the same God, they work in subjection one to another, just like the Bible tells us to do.

Mind, (God) body,(Jesus), and spirit (Holy Spirit). A complete package of peace, joy, and knowledge.
