They still think that every word in the Quran comes from allah. but at the same time when questioned about literalism indicating towards a story in this stupid book they contradict themselves by trying to cover up the meaning.

do you believe that religious books are literally true? (i say what a load of rubbish)

Dear Ahmed, in the process of growing up and exploration, I have kind of walked your path too, until the Holy ONE guided me. The Quran itself claims that some of its verses are symbolic and some are simple statements, yet others are allegories and only those who are given discernment and knowledge alone can tell one from the other.

Do not write off the book so quickly. Look at your dad, your granddad. Do you see them as evil men? Do you see your family as a group of evil people? If you do, then indeed, Islam did not do good for them, may be they have a distorted form of Islam.

If they are good, then you must ask yourself why are they good, if they were following a bad book and bad traditions? It has become fashionable for the so called educated to put down the religous, as that is their primary means of showing their superiority. I have know some very smart people to be Muslims.

You need to please open your horizons and keep the possibilities alive and do not do anything that will make you regret later.

If you are not from a Muslim background and using the name Ahmed just to fool us, then grow up. =)

ya u will not give a rats bottom about Allah today and until u live, but what about when u die? where do u think u will escape. u can rot from the eyes of man and dissappear in history of mankind, but u cannot Hide from the Eyes of God.

people like u think that u will be considered cool if u wag ur tongue here, ya u will get a few words of appreciation here by men, but it will be of no avail when u die. when the sins u accumulate will give witness against u in front of the whole mankind (from Adam-pbuh to till last man on earth), then may be u will think about this very statement and regret for saying..

i think the problem is education for example most of the muslim population in the world is very poor like african countries , or is under severe political fragmentation like iraq, some have become recently properous because of oil like saudi and kuwait and in the worse ruled by clerics like iran , the day most muslims get educated they would know the true essence of religion , I think that the clerics are given too much power by the religion and because of low education they are further stregthened , its not the people who are the problem but its the human who have power in the religion which make it bad , look at all the preachers in islam who give hate speeches and inflamatory comments, yet these ayatollahs are loved , and people dont know that ayatollahs have converted islam into a laughing stock.

When I was about 10 years old my parents bought me a book called "Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals" for Christmas I took it to school with me one day when the local vicar ( priest ) just happened to call in .He came and sat next to me and began to look through it. So been the inquisitive little lad I was I asked him ( much to his surprise! ) how the creation and the garden of Eden story fitted in with what modern science now knows. Well, he smiled at me and said to me rather sheepishly "Well Roy, you must understand , quite a bit of the bible is like a fairy story really!" How I wish I had a tape recorder running.

of course religious books aren't literally true. They were written by man, manipulated by man, and interpreted by man.

Sorry to say that's not a very trustworthy source.

As a christian I can say this. I use the Bible as a guide through life. I don't take every story as the way to live life. That will be confusing as all hell.

Just do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and its always good to have a lil faith.

I'm not a religious person but I don't think that way either. That is their choice and you can't say things like that. Everyone has the right to believe in anything thay want so just try to respect that.

this book says a lot of things that have been descovered letlly by sience every while it was exist long long time ago so how come? don't you every think about it (you don't have mind) so if any human think about it, he will find that the only way for that is to be coming from the god.

Sadly the Muslims are discovering what the fundamentalist Christians have known for some time.

If you're gonna insist on literal meanings for your Scriptures, then you'd better make darn sure that your believers are dumber than stumps and without access to any information except what you feed them.

I agree with you as far as religious books are concerned. They all have no logic. Religion does not teach respect for this life, it promises (sic) comfort in "after life".
Islam is the most backward of them all. No family planning, no converting to another religion from Islam, only dress for women is burka, no respect for the women folk, no tolerance for non-muslims...list is endless.
