There were 'hints' in the media, questions here on Yahoo! Answers, and lots of silly speculation about "August 22" being the 'end of the world' or 'the start of World War III' but when the day came and went without incident, all the yappers and head nodders were strangely silent.
So, would any of them, or anyone really, care to explain why all the fundamentalist kooks disappear into the woodwork like so many termites when their dire predictions of woe and torment don't happen on cue?
Will any of them give up their crazy notion that we're in the so-called End Times, and start being responsible regarding the environment and/or begin treating fellow humans with respect regardless of their religious affiliation (or lack thereof)???
I'd really like to know the answer to this, because I'm so, so tired of all the Chicken Little theories!

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the world, in fact, ended on 22 August, 2006 in a nuclear holocaust started by Iran.
Some very kind and benevolent race of aliens from the Ceti 342 system resued the consiousness of about 3 billion people, and are preserving us in a state of hypnotismic sedation.

the only place i've ever heard of the 'august 22' theory was on YA, and only since then, all from people asking 'what happened with this fundie prediction?'...personally, i think it was a rumor started by atheists eager to have another thing to bash 'fundies' about...because i've never heard a single word from the 'fundies' about this, before or since...and i know plenty of them-not a peep before august 22, and everyone i've asked has needed me to explain the rumor to them...

I didn't read of that in any reputable publications. The only stories I heard were those which were made from paranoid, neurotic people.
Remember the urgency to go into Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction? Hello .....

Well I for one would never be so bold as to put a date on it but I would say with certainty, that, if and when the Iran thing kicks-off, Yahoo 'Answers' wont be around to publish the results!!!!

ever since the times of Rasputin, there have always been such conspiracy theories which eventually get debunked. people enjoy putting forth these things... and most of them just come to pass.
so i suggest we dont get too overly alarmed :) and more importantly, enjoy life while we're still living it!

I never knew it was suppose to end, my gollies iff we believed everything we heard, read or saw on tele we would be way to scared to get out of bed everyday.
