well no set rule i guess. my partner asked me after 6 months but we have waited over a year to get married.

my mum used to say you should spend all 4 seasons with a person first before marrying them, so as you don';t just see them in the original excitement of a new relationship but you actually get to see them warts and all first.

Its great when you see a new relationship and you see how exciting the courting is etc. i would personally advise waiting until that initial excitement has calmed down and you've spent a few months together. that way you're not rushing into to something you may later wish to get out of see.

I usually use 6 months as a guidline. In 6 months time you should know whether you want to continue the relationship or end it.

After that it depends on your age, and other factors as well. What I'd advise a 19 yr. old would be different than the advice I'd give someone 40. How often do you see each other? Is it a long-distance relationship? Have you broken up before & gotten back together? How mature are you? Do you have an education? Do you know what you want?

I don't think you can put a time factor on something like this. You NEVER really know a person completely.
But you know in your heart whether you want to spend your life with one special person. That's when you propose.

Hi i think whenever you fall in love and you sure there the one for you. There is no specific length of time you should have been going out. Propose when you want. People useuall wait a few years but people have got engaged within 6 months or even less, if you feel ready do it.

There's no standard answer.

For some couples they ought to wait at least 200 years, for others it can be a matter of minutes.

Divorce is so easy these days but it's always a traumatic process, so take as long as you need to make a decision that may affect the rest of your life.

That all depends on how you feel about this person and what you both want out of the relationship. You need to assess what your feelings are and if you want to spend the rest of your life with this person.Remember the saying marry in haste repent at leisure or you never know a person until you live together....Good luck.

it doesn't matter how long have you been together... what matter is that you love her and u know that it is her you want to share your life with... those who are telling that it will take two years or more before you get to know the person, well, damn wrong... you will never know who and what a person really is until you share the same roof with him or her... good luck, follow your heart and trust your instinct...
