Well, this cannot however be scientifically proved. But also remind the point that science however is still in an initial stage. The possibility cannot be ignored.
However according to my point of view such a projection of physical state is highly unlikely. Maybe it's the mind that achieves this!
Considering the highly speculative & generalized theories involved the best ADVICE I can give you is to seek your own answer.

I personally think that these so called transcending into nirvana and etc is just the brain doing tricks. Or more like demons causing illusion. My two cents.

Yes, it is possible but it takes a high level of mastery to be able to do such things...I met a person who can ,he is very spiritual and can actually do it . He can also heal cancers and diseases. I won't tell you who he is though for confidentiality's sake. Keep your mind open about these things .

Absolutely false, my dear . meditation has many stages and purposes, it really depends for what aim i am doing so. Mainly meditation has three stages contemplation, visualization, realization it is clearly said in old sculpture transcendental meditation is nothing Meir than time pass entertainment, it is simply fool men idea and fantasy, any can see and visualize things in your normal thinking process as we always do to plane forward. those who have nothing in their life to do claim themselves to be yogi and sit for many many hours with clean shave projecting they see the unseen. it is only who want to sell themselves claim we have attain powers to meet with spirits and fools like us bow down in front of them.
Meditation in real terms means Communion with almighty and concentration on my innate and real quality and removing the negative traits i the soul have acquired during the course of life.

No. It's just a relaxation. You could only "transformed" to other state only if you become a Buddha that is when you left the earthly body.

I don't think they actually transcend to a "different" plane. I think they get so relaxed that they find deeper understanding within themselves.

I don't believe it. I think they starve themselves into a state of disillusion. I'd see things too if I hadn't eaten in a month.
