Sometimes a man feels that the right time is NOW, and he doesn't have a ring. My husband proposed to me outside of a theatre--we missed the performance because we were having a huge argument, and we stayed outside yelling and talking, and as things were winding down, he suddenly got down on his knee and proposed. We went shopping for a ring later, and it didn't bother me one bit that I didn't have one right from the start. He was also very happy, because he would have picked a diamond, and I actually emphatically did not want one.
If your man has proposed face to face, and has followed up with email proposals, I would say he genuinely wants a "Yes" from you. How are his finances? Is it possible that he doesn't have a lot of extra money and wants to be sure he gets the right ring on the first try? Why don't you, if you really want to marry him, that is, say yes, but tell him you'd really like a ring as well. My guess is he'll take you shopping as soon as time and finances allow.
And remember, the ring is just a symbol. It's the committment in his heart that matters. If he's genuinely ready to commit to you, and he wants to make a life with you, don't let something like a ring stand in the way of your mutual happiness.

its sort of the norm to propose with a ring, and a bouquet of flowers (optional). sometimes a guy may propose when the time seems right, without the ring. it depends how much you love him or the ring. love conquers all. good luck! (:

A ring is a symbol, of no real value unless you are hocking it. I know people who have been married for 30+ years and still no ring. The real determining factor is what can he afford?

Next time see if you can stop for ice cream. That's always good when taking a ride.

my aunt and uncle got married without an engagement ring.. and they are still sharing a comfortable relationship with their 3 children... it's love that is more important not any material thing...

He's either broke, a tight wad or he's just trying to get into your pants, tell him you will 'think' about it when you see a ring, but stress 'THINK' good luck Tom
