Take Euros or Dollars before leaving (but Euros are better), take an umbrella because it might rain in the North and suncream if you go to the South, take a translator and beware of Italians ! They're really nice but very "sticky" too ! Italy is a wonderful country, though !

I got back from Italy in May. We didn't have any problems on the flight. Make sure you to to the FTA website and check out items you can't bring onto the plane. Wear shoes you can take off easily because you MAYhave to take them off when you go through security. It really just depends these days. Don't wear a lot of jewlery or else you have to take it off and put it in a dirty bin and then put it back on...etc.
Have fun!
