99 times out of 100 this is the cable

Sounds like one of the control coils on the back of the tube is loose. Because the high voltage for a CRT stays around for a long time after it's switched off, repairing it is not a job for an amateur, and your friend could probably get a new one more cheaply than having it repaired professionally.

So just stop touching it! When it goes pink without you touching it, it's time to get a new one.

if it's an old fashioned(not plasma) screen it could be a problem with one of the colour cartridges in the tube. We had the same problem with our tv once. Best to buy a new screen in that case as getting it fixed will probably set you back more!

sometime this caused by the cable of the screen that link the monitor with computer display card

Not if you're one of those people that generates static electricity. Try washing (and drying!) your hands before you touch it. Or get an electrician to check that its earthed.

this is often casused, by the constant use of pink in the pictures being displayed, the monitor is just reverting to such previous pictures.......

sounds like static from other components to close by the monitor

it is cause by the VGA cable, some connector are loose.
U may check if any of the D-pin are loose or just replace the VGA cable.
