A "miracle"... or at least some evidence that a god exists.

Not sure to be truthful, so many different Atheists, so many differing points of view.. that is like saying what would it take to convert any beliver of one thing to believe another..
An interesting point I feel is this...
Even if you believe or not...
SOMETHING that NOBODY (even the clever cloggs Athesists) understands is certainly happeing,(can you see it , look its all around) something that is so out of the reach of human understanding (certainly at the moment)
& whenever we try to understand it (certainly in the west) we are hit with paradox... and this is a symptom of our human brains, we find it very difficult for instance to think about the "what came first?" question= for if the big bang , was created by x and y located in space z, then who or what or where did x and y come from..... and in what space did they occupy before ? did they "come fom nothing" and if so where was it they arrived at??? if it had not been created yet....
The argument is one of many paradoxs to do with time and space... and if you can come up with logical answer to the above sequence, that is great ..
BUT then you need to ask the question again... ie "where did that come from?" it IS a logical question.... so either logic is wrong, or the question is correct... and the answer is elusive , unkowable to us... something we do not understand created the universe, and I dont know about you but it is pretty impressive, and as far as our brains can telll, pretty large (the universes) and quite damn intelligent,, (more so than us) and the parts of the universe that are Millions of light years away from each other have atoms in them , that know what the atoms here on earth are doing, because they behave in relation to each other... and last but not least this thing that is so so boring and normal , and not a god, created us... we DO come from this HUGE , intelligent, unknowable , amazingly powerful force, the same froce, or collection of forces that made the world, planets, stars sun, or brothers, sisters, cats , and daughters... now I do not need to call this force by a name, ie god, or non god, but I DO have respect for it... its like saying you do not respect the power of the sea(which is just another thing that the universe created)
So in short , I am not religious, as religion is a state sponsered spirituality anyway, but I am able to think about what I am , and see what is around me, I do not feel the need to ignore it as unimportant, or the need to deny that something amazing is happening.... something far more powerful, intelligent, and imaginative and prfoundly huge is going on than anything we have the details for , or that any religion has told us.... or even a mind to understand fully ...
but then if there was a creator? where did he come from? and who or what created him (or her, or it)
Finally then I like you all do not know what the answer is but I am sure it is not mundane, and I enjoy keeping an open and anylitical mind to the whole affair... after all the reality is sure to be (seem) stranger than the common sense models we currently use to try and understand the world.....
does god play with dice?

Human race with common sense and respect toward all people and the environment. An intelligent and all-knowing God (as all religions claim Him/Her to be) could surely have done better than leave human beings with a free will without common sense. Look at what we have done (and continue to do) to each other, and the earth including flora and fauna. If there were no religion, there would have been God. Absolute absence of religion would make me believe in God.

I like the answer above.. Proof. I believe that science is why we are here. I absolutely support those who do believe in God. I just don't believe. I see how sometimes (not all the time) makes people more closed minded. Drives me nuts.

Like lovebug said- its a moot question because an athiest doesnt go looking out for God. You dont search for something that doesnt exist, its a dilemma of believers to constantly feel insecure about their religion and boast about it in every forum

Emperically testable predictions based upon the assertion of the existence of a God, the performance of experiments to verify those predictions, peer review of the experiments and peer re-performance of those experiements, until there was sufficient support to reject the null-hypothesis of "There is no God" to the 0.01 level (statisticians, you know what this means, if you don't, you're not a statistician so look it up. :P)

Matthew 12:39
Jesus's Words
39. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
The Bible says If you seek him with all your heart you will find him, you must be sincere and have faith in him

I guess they would have to see God face to face when they die. They don't believe in God and there's no actual proof that He exists. Religion is all about FAITH not PROOF. There's nothing you or I could say to get them to believe in God.

people convinced with a lie -will only come to the truth in this issue by the Holy Spirit opening their understanding-worked for me---professing themselves to be wise they became fools." the bible-
there is a reason a person like me chose to reject God-once understood -i was the problem not God.
i let Jesus into my heart and he set me free to believe-thank you david
