It is very simple. All the containers we know of are made up of differrent articles who in turn are made up of tiny particles and those particles are made up of atoms. When we store the icecream in a particular especially plastic containers it does take up the smell of that container as some atoms are passed on to the icecream.

However, tetrapacks are made up of inert atoms and hence there is no such exchange and hence the different taste.

the containers affect the taste of the content because some atoms of the container will get mixed with the atoms of the content.
