11.08a.m.

I'm an old man aged 76 living 'somewhere' in Scotland.

I have 3/4 lb. raw minced beef (ground beef), an onion, a small can of carrots and a few mushrooms.

I also have some 'dry' uncooked spaghetti and some uncooked macaroni.

Can someone please suggest what I should make for my lunch at 1p.m.

Ideally, my meal should be easy to make, tasty and filling.

Mother Nature.

There was no need for your belligerent answer, I found it offensive.

Make a beef steak pattie with the meat, mushroom and onion.
Fry or bake it. Take out of the grease and keep warm. Make a sauce with the grease left from the meat and what ever thickener you have, cornstarch, flour, tomatoes or what ever.
Heat the can of carrots and cook some of the pasta.
You will have meat with vegetable and a starch. This is a full meal and a very hardy one at that.

Do you have some tinned tomatoes? If you do, fry the mince, chop the onion, add that, when cooked, add the tins of carrots and mushrooms and then the tin of tomatoes. Simmer this for about 15-20 minutes and serve it with the spaghetti. It's nearly bolognese and it will be lovely. If you have some cheese, grate some on top. Hurrah.

Chop up the onion and mushrooms and sautee for a few seconds, add the ground beef and continue to cook on medium/low heat until beef is browned -- stir often to ensure there aren't any beef clumps.

If you have any tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes add these now. If not add some salt and pepper, and any herbs you might have like basil, oregano, garlic, etc.

Add about 1 - 2 tsp of flour to thicken up the juices in the pot (if you have no tomato sauce)

Prepare spaghetti or macaroni to package directions. Drain and cover with meaty sauce.
