Yes ....Depends some just like the chase and when they get it they move on... Some like the chase cause they like the challenge....if the chase is good enough then hey I don't think they do give up , if they cant have you then they become your friends hahahaha yeah right......If they cant chase you then they move on to trying to make you jealous by dating your friends if they were really interested in you....

It depends on what they're looking for. The chase can be fun, if what you're looking for is just some fun. But if you're looking for a meaningful, long-term relationship, the games involved in chasing someone make it hard to establish a good, solid foundation of open, honest communication, and you're likely to find that there will be problems later on in the relationship due to trust issues, and communication challenges.
If it's just a matter of looking for some fun, though, chasing the prey can be amusing; it gives a chance to flex the hunting instincts, to polish up the seductive techniques, and to engage in some mutual ego stroking through the flirting process. Usually in the flirting, pursuit mode, since it's lighthearted and fun oriented, they'll only keep it up for a week or two before turning their interest elsewhere.
If you're having issues with someone being particularly stalker-ish about the pursuit, though, that goes outside the normal realm, and needs to be taken more seriously; there's no telling how long they could go at it, and you would need to consider taking more serious steps, in that case.
Good luck!

Decent answer form mpetach and bad answer from freethrashing. How could anyone even see chasing someone as part of a relationship. You don't really get to know someone by chasing after them. You get to know someone through communication. Not games. I am against books like "The Rules". I think that mentality sucks @$$.

I hate the chase. If a girl wants me to chase, I move to the next. I could be dead tomorrow and dont have the time to play around.

The chase is truly the best part of any relationship, whether it last one day or one life time.Anticipation and mystery are the driving factors. The timing of the first intimate encounter will dictate when one or the other loses interest!!!

Actually, the chase is my LEAST favorite part.....if a woman plays hard to get at all, I immediately lose interest.

It depends how bad the guy wants her. Some guys might think it's too competitive. Others might find it childish and immature. And a select few might be too old to for the chase and wait for for the girl to come to them.
