Horses can bite, and yes, it can be quite painful! I once had a bruise for a month (four weeks before it faded) on my backside from being bit by a Thoroughbred! Ouch!

A horse is about a 1500 lb animal. Whatever it does to you can be painful,or in some cases, can kill you (kicking, rolling over you after a fall, etc.) Yes - horses do bite, and yes, it hurts. They can also gently nibble out of your hand. They are sophisticated creatures- so maybe the question is why would the horse want to bite you, and would he/she be intending to cause pain ( yes, they are that smart....unfortunately unlike many of the people answering this question)

The lesson is to keep away from biting horses, or stop provoking them so that they do bite.

yes, they usually are inclined to bite, but they can be trained to keep their mouths shut (ie. not to bite)
it doesn't hurt too bad, but it does bruise (it usually feels better it u bite the horse back. lol)
