If you have an indoor dog like I do, it can be miserable for them and you all summer long. I too have tried everything reasonably priced, and nothing works for more than a few days.
My Mom suggested recently that I put my little Angel in the tub (empty), and COVER her with baby oil. It smothers the fleas, and helps them slide off while shampooing afterward. You will be amazed at how many fleas come off that you probably couldn't see before!! You may have to soap them up twice. as the oil will need extra suds to come off, but it leaves their coat sooooo soft and shiny!!
As for the house, the best, cheapest thing to do is bathe all bedding, and buy a cheap bug bomb. I liked the earlier answer about the Sevin Dust. I'm gonna try that for my yard. Also I have always heard that you can buy Lavender Oil from the health food stores (costs less than $2-$3) and spray it full strength on their beds. Fleas hate the smell of it and cedar chips too!!
Good Luck!!

The only thing that works in CA where the fleas are resistant to everything else is Advantage. I get it from my vet by the tube. One at a time instead of a 3 mo supply at once. Not cheap but it kills them on the dog and then the ones in the house sort of die out with the medication on the dog. Vaccum a lot too.
Flea bombs and collars, etc can add up to just as much as the Advantage.

I enable a stray dogs in my homestead earlier to possessing my modern-day dogs and he became into in basic terms interior the homestead for a rely of two minutes. Boy became into that the stupidest element I ever did. It appeared like all without delay (each and every week or so later) we had a great flea infestation. We tried flea bombs, the carpet sprinkles, the spray... finished 9 yards. After many many many cases of failing with this i desperate that the only element we would desire to do became into to purchase the costly stuff that certain that it would artwork to kill the grownup fleas besides as any eggs. (i won't be able to keep in mind the chemical that does this yet once you seem up fleas online in basic terms approximately each and every article ought to enable you recognize).... I spent over $one hundred on components and regularly occurring sprayed all furnishings, then did the carpet sprinkles with a extra advantageous vet recommended style (won't be able to keep in mind the call sorry) and then after vacuuming that up I bombed lower back... I then vacuumed like thrice an afternoon and have not had a project because. It became into no longer relaxing, and became into no longer low priced, yet what i understand is while it includes fleas, I for one won't play around with attempting to shrink cost when you consider that looks to do no longer something yet waste funds. attempt to get although you may that has that chemical in it that assaults the eggs besides and vacuum vacuum vacuum....

I don't think you can get flea meds any cheaper than PetMeds.com or 1=800-pet=meds. Those like Advantage, etc. Frontline are very effective. I would think any room fogger from the dollar store would work for your home, but keep the pets out of there for a few hours.

my caretaker put liquid detergent in a spray bottle with water and sprayed the house and the dog with it, waited a few hours and vacuumed the house and washed the dog. It seemed to work but, our back yard has gotten hugely infested with fleas brought in by some stray cats so we had to call pest control for that.

Sprinkle popcorn salt all over your carpets, then stomp on the carpets to get it deep down inside. Don't vaccuum for a few days. You can get popcorn salt (it is very fine) at CostCo. It is safe, non-toxic, and it dehydrates the fleas thus killing them. Worked for me at my old house, we were flea free for about 3 years!
