Just got two new kittens three days ago. This morning the male peed on our bed. He has been using the litter tray happily up to now, as has the female. My husband scoops as soon as it is used, and it seems clean and pleasant (for a litter tray). This morning our male cat started scratching around looking like he wanted to go, I popped him in the kitchen and he had a poop in the box, but as soon as he was let out of the kitchen he rushed to the bedroom and peed on our duvet. He hasn't been lonely, has had lots of attention, I don't think it is a bladder infection because he chose to go to the bedroom rather than being caught short. The only thing I can think of is his litter box - but as I say, it seems to be clean. We haven't changed his litter or his food.

HELP!!

He is only 14 weeks, so not ready to be 'done'. He left his mother a good few weeks ago and has been with 3 other kittens in the store. I bought two together. He seems quite happy otherwise.

It's embarrassing but I once had a tom that peed on my hair in middle of the night. He always used the box before that and after that. I don't know why he did it. It was a one time thing.
Instead of scooping all the pee out of the box leave a piece there so the cats know that's the place where that belongs. I've done that house training feral cats and it works.

I suspect you are keeping the litter tray TOO clean.

If they have only left their Mother 3 days ago, they must be terribly confused poor little things. Give them time to settle down and keep the bedroom door shut!

If he pees anywhere else, sprinkle the area with lemon juice as cats hate citrus fruit. Ground white pepper works well also.

I'm not sure what to do about that but, if you have a hard time getting the smell out. you should take the comforter out of the duvet and use peroxide and baking soda on it. i recommend not using on the cover though it might bleach it a lil. this usually helps when our cat randomly decides peeing on the rug infront of the litter box is a cool idea.

The only way to get the smell out is to use the special enzyme cleaner they sell at pet stores. It works really well. I would say the cat is marking its territory and should be neutered immediatly. If you catch the cat doing it, say "No" firmly and loudly (never smack a cat) and put it outside so it has a negative association with its action. Cats CAN be taught the difference between right and wrong, or at least your version of right or wrong! Remember, you are the alpha creature, otherwise....kitty tyranny!

My cat Leo peed on me in the bed once cause something scared him. He is very nervous. He was abused as a kitten before I got him and has some very strange nervous habits. I scolded him when he did it and he didn't ever do it again. I have to be careful when scolding Leo because like I said he is already very nervous so I have to scold him gently. LOL.

My kitten was doing the same, i just kept putting him in the tray and he eventually got the message. It could be something to do with comfort. Do you let him sleep on the bed?? He might smell himself there and get confused.

Male cats do that - it''s a territorial thing.

Yo will have to punish him if you want him to stop, but it has to be done straight after the act, as their memory isn't very long.

Castration will reduce this phenomenom to a certain degree, but he is still too young for this.

I would suggest telling him off when he does it by squirting him with water from a spray, shouting at him, chasing him and putting him in the litter tray.

He needs to be retrained to use the litter box to pee. He can smell where he went before so he will continue to use the duvet until you get him re-trained to use the litterbox.

Maybe he's more comfortable pooping in the box and peeing on the bed. Put a kittybed in your room, and maybe he'll get used to that, and then try to get him used to a litterbox. Maybe he just likes soft things, so try to find, maybe, a cushion or something like that to use.

don't scoop it right away, let some of the odor set so they have a scent signature that they relate to their bathroom. Without that they may forget. Or he might just be marking his territory and needs to be neutered
