Landscape with St John on Patmos by Poussin. Its a very classical and spiritual painting but with very hidden secular meanings. No one really knows what everything in the painting means, because Poussin was a member of sect that practiced hiding things in paintings. I would love to live in it for a bit and see if I could figure everything out.

Good question by the way. do you mean be in the place that the artist was painting or actually or in some strange dimension constituted by the painting itself?
If the latter, I'd like to be in a japanese woodcut.- Hiroshige's bridge in the rain.

Weird...previous post and I chose a work by same artist, not as well known as some.
The Floor Scrapers
by Gustave Caillebotte
1875
Everything about it is sensual...the floor, the light, the mens' beautiful backs. Seeing it in person was one of the thrills of my life.
