Yes.
1) Exercise
2) Block time for you to do things that you find relaxing/enjoyable.
3) If you have someone to confide in, talk to them about what you're feeling
4) Try to associate with friends more, talk to them and hang out
5) Make yourself smile (honestly, this has a neurological effect)
In a broader sense, try to do things that allow you to gain perspective. Realizing how you fit into the big scheme of things can be depersonalizing, but it also makes you realize that people have it worse than you, and people have gone through what you're going through now and gone on to leave perfectly happy lives.
Hope this helps!

if not too severe, exercise is a proven help-20-30minutes a day minimum can help greatly if you can force yourslef to do it. Contacting others and not being isolated. Sign up for some activity like an informal class where you will have to show up becasue you paid. Or make an appt to see someone like a docotr or dentist-anything that you are obligated to get out...or get a haircut.shampoo/massage/manicure/pedicure. Small steps like, forcing yourself to get up and make your bed and then get dressed on a day off, may stave off the desire to stay in bed all day. Talk therapy with a counselor works , and that is natural. SOmetimes if the depression is very bad with suicidal thoughts, a course of antideprssants may be life saving. Chin up.

There two types of depression - situational, caused by bad things messing up your life ( I get it whenever my life gets out of my control) So there are several meds that can help you until your life gets moving in the right direction . The second is being bipolar and that is caused by a chemical imbalance (lithium) and requires more long term medication. See a doctor, get a quick blood test to see if you are bipolar and start on a meds program suited to your needs.

I myself am a 27 year old female with "bipolar depression"
I have been struggling with this brain disorder since I was very young....I understand this is an inherited condition...short term depression is different.
Time, love (both self appreication and love of others) and experince cures it...But you still have bad days...
It's my shadow and also my oldest friend.

Having been there myself, I can tell you what worked for me. Find a Bible believing non-denominational Christian church. And try to eat as much fruits and veggies as you can, and drink lots of water. And exercise is very important as well. Stay active and stay positive! You can do it... :)
