Honestly, I don't agree with them. They're just like a bunch of confused women who are more into the idea of liberalism. But I would like to know what other muslims might have to say about them.
Preferably, I would love the reply from our own muslim sisters...

If SIS is all about getting woman rights like what seeker has said, then of course i would support them.
Unfortunately, beside this, SIS also promotes the idea of every individual having their own right to sin. Like for example, if a muslim woman decided to not cover her hair and wear sexy clothings to display their body in public, SIS agree that other muslims has no right to say anything about that. It's what you call personal sin (I believe this is the reason why some SIS members do not cover their own hair). And tell me, is that a good example of muslim leaders?
Well, if you think that is nothing, here's another example. Ever heard of Lina Joy? SIS supported her case!
A muslim woman who wanted to convert to another religion is supported by this organisation.
If i dont sound convincing enough, you can search for more infos thru the internet anyways...

I'm a muslim sister and this is the first time I'm hearing of such a movement.
I have just had a look at their site. I came to know that they are in Malasia. And I have read what their aims are.
Yes. if they are really speaking about the freedom which were practised by the women during the prophets days then I really agree with them. But if they are talking about freedom without a border i.e. against the Islamic teachings then I disagree with them.
Muslim women need somebody to tell them about their right in Islam. Most of them are note aware of it. You can see many kind of torture towards Woman in India, Pakistan, Middle East like asking dowry from women and killing her for that. The difficulty a father of girls face to bring up this dowry. Wherease the Islam teaches that men have to give dowry to women and it is his responsibility to support her financially and look after her. so it is shameful practise in India which came from some Hindu traditions.
Many woman are killed in the name of honour, which Islam prohibits, islam has set severe punishments for rapers, killers, and robbers ..etc. The women gets the full right to protect herself and Islam asks for 4 witnesses to claim that a woman had sex illigelly and in normal cases it is very difficult to get 4 wittnesses so she can be set free then and this keeps her degnity. people misused this rule by raping the woman and forced her to be killed in the name of honour and they did not implement the shraie rule on the raper. So men got away and the women caught in .
many women in Middle east are beaten, scolded, not allowed to study or work because the men have no trust in them, or they just want to controll them, also some forces their wifes to go for work and he takes away her earnings..is this fair?
Islam teaches that woman have the full authority on her earnings, she has the right to learn , works and help the society. It is better to have woman doctors, teachers for woman than men.
It is clear in many countires that women are a tool of sex, advertisments and entertainment. Later she is thrown away without any consideration . islam teaches her to wear proper dress, and keep her deginity and value her self,. She is not a doll in their hands.
We see that many women are not allowed to go for prayer or religious classes in many countires, Islam says that everybody is equal in front to Allah no difference betweeen man or woman, she has the right to do her worship and she is not lesser than the man.
We see that most of the countires that the wage is unequal for men and women even the countries who claim that there have liberated woman. While the Islam says everybody is equal in front of rule and right. She is doing the same work as a man then why should not she get the same payment?
We see that many woman are thrown in the elderly caring centres when they are old. But Islam says their is big punishement waiting for the one who treats his parents unkindly or disobey them. Islam has taught that the mother is to be respected three times higher than the man do to the difficulty she goes on through pregenancy, giving birth and bringing up the child until he is able to depend on himself.
The right or women in Islam cannot be counted here and I think if the movement is intended to make these right clear for those suppressed woman then I should support them
EDIT:
well if the issue is as you said then I think they need a freedom without a border. What support do they have for this from life of prophets & his wives ? I have read on their site that they were refering to the freedom pratised in the prophets days.

You ALL misunderstood the concept of "Sisters" in Islam. IT IS NOT like the Christian sisters. In Islam, all male Muslims are brothers to each other, as well as all females to sisters. This is what it means "Sisters" in Islam.

freedom and liberalism is not flaunting urself and talking the talk. it is responsibility and trust someone has placed in you. and one should not belie that trust. that is what i was taught.
also a great revolution should always begin with oneself. i always have beleived in "preach what u practise and practise what u preach" theory. i cant decide for someone elses' life, Allah has not given me the right.
we have better lives now its our job for our sisters to have a better life as well . and how is it possible?
if they want to liberate women then educate them, get them jobs and help them stand on their feet and make them independant financially and emotionally. make them strong by virtues, independence and character.
if people want the society to be better : then they should teach our children to be patient, forgiving and enduring and get them the best of the Quran. and before teaching others we ourselves should follow these virtues.
that said, well let me tell u one thing clearly: i dont care for any man or any woman and their organisations, be it of any faith or religion. i only beleive in Quran and my faith in Allah. thats what matters. i follow my straight path and do good deeds. i need to help my community better and make it peaceful, that is what Allah has said to me.
if i beleive in -live and let live policy - and if each one of us apply this theory in our lives then our world is a blissful Heaven.
if by liberty u mean the best of this world, then here it is:
i was a student t an irish presentation church convent all my school life. i am a post grad in biochemistry from one of the world top univs. and i also worked as a research faculty at an MNC. now i am a homemaker and i love being one. so in all sense i am liberal & equal to a man or woman of any faith.
EDIT:
i think each one of us is given a freewill by Allah. Allah does say that u stop a person from comitting sin, but Allah also says that if a person does not want to listen, then let him/her be what they want to be. Allah will guide them better than humans. well if a given organisation wants to follow some new rules, then let them. let us follow what we have learnt and taught.
we cant go and fight them saying they are wrong. the 1st question to spring up from them will be: who are u to question and decide my rights?. if we do that then we will also be added to the list of osama and crew, coz basically thats what osama is doing. why create problems within ourselves.? its better we follow our path rather than tell someone that they are wrong.
and even Allah has said that there is no compulsion in religion. thruth stands out clear from error. what can we do if someone wants to leave Allah's hand. if we say its wong or do something, then the world will look at us like taliban.
remember at the end of the day, we all have to face our Lord. if they are wrong/right, let God deal with them. people by themselves need to know that freedom just does not lie in having fun in life. this life is a gift and we all have a purpose of living. we all need to be here for each other and help each other stand up for ourselves.
i have never heard of this organisation nor am i interested in any of such organisations. i have Quran with me and i follow the best of it. why take verses that says fight when u have verses that say, pray, pay zakat, help one another and beleive in Allah and His messengers. and i will not accept any man-made rule if it goes against my wish. i think we (each one of us) should stand up for what we beleive.
as i said the best policy to follow will be -live and let live. i dont want to tell them they are wrong nor do i want them to tell me that i am wrong. let them follow their hearts and i will follow my faith.
